Chicago Rep. La Shawn Ford, a Democrat, is calling for the abolition of history classes and the removal of “current history books” because history, he says, causes White Privilege and racism.
Speaking with local leaders in Evanston, Chicago last week, the Democratic representative proposed the plan to develop a more “inclusive” curriculum—one that doesn’t lead to White Privilege—and abolish all current history books.
“Today, I’m calling for the abolishment of history classes in Illinois. We’re concerned that current school history teachings lead to White Privilege and a racist society,” Ford said.
Or students can learn about the appalling parts of North American history and draw comparisons between the brutality experienced by past generations and the freedom enjoyed today.
But that would be self-reflective.
