Authors of Our Own Destruction

If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.

The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions:
Address Before the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois

Cases in point:

Special-needs children were left to die in an Iraqi orphanage. Parallels to orphanages in Russia and Romani are drawn. The countdown to American blame is on.

The Satanic Verses author, Salman Rushdie, is awarded a knighthood and Pakistan threatens attacks. The level of dhimmitude that has gripped parts of western Europe and North America is so great that someone will likely placate these bearded fascists. Margaret Thatcher never placated the IRA and she was a real...

Moving on....

A rough creature slouches before Bethlehem. If the Palestinian Christians entertained any illusions that the same Muslims who blow themselves up and invaded the Church of the Nativity were their friends, they should no longer do so. It is also time they stopped running. Bethlehem is Jesus' land. People have run from Christ before and it's never ended well.

Similarly, Gaza Christians are warned to submit to Islam (which, I'm sure, some will liken to a spiritual quest). Submit to this.

I thought hogwans were supposed to make people smarter. Not Ban Ki-Moon, obviously. Global warming triggered the crisis in Darfur, not the Arab-backed Janjaweed.

The UN continues to be sickening.

North Korea fires another missile. South Korea does nothing as its end approaches.

North Korean lackies go bankrupt. Japan still wants a pound of flesh (well, so does everyone who has been invaded by Japan).

Korean presidential hopeful, Lee Myun-Bak, proves he is no better than any other craven capitalist out to make a won over North Korea. Kaesong is, in truth, an intended North Korean cash-cow, part owned by various South Korean companies. It is not as lucrative as some may have wanted it, however.

Now they've done it! No one messes with Christmas! Can we stop with the multi-cultural, feel-good sentiment now and tell the ingrates to go to hell?

The Vatican issues Ten Commandments for drivers. Who says the Church is never involved?

The Mid-Month Rant

For those who post comments here, thanks. I read them but I can't reply (lousy Blogger...).

Father's Day- like a barbecue...for your dad!

Someone is in a rush (or is a Russian, as the case may be) to give Kim Jong-Il his misgotten gains. I don't believe the closed nuclear plants will remain so for very long. Where is the incentive? North Korea has had 60 days to comply with demands to shut down their reactors and allow inspectors in. Nothing has been done. Back to square one.

Maybe someone should ask this moron where his Mohammed is. An Edward G. Robinson or Police Chief Wiggim voice would be good for effect.

Scum.

More scum.

Scratching-the-bottom-of-the-barrel scum.

In case we forgot that moral relativism as it pertains to the "wonderful" world of Islam was a complete pile of dingo kidneys, the preceding are very good reminders.

A pastor is nearly killed by raging mob for his beliefs in India. This is another thing we should be concerned with. One would think that India would be the complete opposite of its mortal enemy, Pakistan, even if for no reason other than to be contrary. India has a law against conversions, albeit impractical and rather discriminatory. Before conversions are decried as forced or unwelcome, think of it this way. Someone could ask another about his religion. Under the law, that person could be fined. The law also smacks of government interference in the lives of adults. Whose business is it if a man converts from this or that religion? Providing he is not coerced, why would anyone care? One would think that India would worry more about its air quality and maintaining its economic boom than the private lives of its citizens. The pastor in question was not like a certain religion one could mention. Let's not forget how a Christian spent her adult life looking after the poor the Indian government couldn't deal with.

Now for something completely different....

Liberals stealing money and covering it up? No! It can't be! They've never done that before!

Paris Hilton is still in jail. Angelina Jolie must take her self-righteous, self-important persona off the radar NOW.

I will close this with a shot to end all shots.

Lest We Forget

Tiananmen Square, eighteen years ago today (thanks for reminding me, Michelle Malkin).
Another reason why we shouldn't trade with China.

A New Month, A New Post

A new post for the month of Juuuuuuuuuuunnnnne.......

So many things happen in June.

Did you know that June 2nd is Festa della Repubblica in Italy. Remember- no one ever says Italy.

June 17th is Father's Day. I realise in this day and age when we should fight male oppression...or something....we should not celebrate UnWomyn's Day (or is is Dae...Dai...damn you, teachers, for teaching me how to spell!) but really, who is the man who opens jars for you, drives you to your friend's house (the one with the swimming pool) and teaches you how to make scrambled eggs? Are you trying to say that scrambled eggs are wrong? I don't want to live in a world without scrambled eggs and toast!

Here is a recipe for scrambled eggs and sausage.

June 19th is the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. The excitement, the danger, the paddling! I don't know about you, but my money's on the green boat!

June 21st is the summer solstice, the start of barbecue season for people who don't like meat.

There are some birthdays and other things tucked in there but I think this wraps up the bulk of things going on in June.

Later.

Mid-Week Rant

What do you do when you're caught encouraging someone break the law as you have done many times before? Well, you sue, that's what you do. Planned Parenthood, the meddling and less-than-law-abiding corporation founded by a racist, classist enema freak, is planning on suing Lila Rose, editor of a student newspaper, for having the audacity to expose their plans to flout laws designed to report the sexual abuse of minors.
I don't want to hear arguments about "women's right to choose" and all that because that tired, old rhetoric doesn't even come close to fitting here. The moron Planned Parenthood hired to lie to women and minors was doing her part in keeping the corporation running, even if it meant saving the slimy skin of a sexual predator. All for money. Planned Parenthood is now bullying this girl (and has done so with others) into hiding their conspiracy, something they are not new to. This should disgust anyone, regardless of what side of the fence one is on about this.
If I were Lila Rose, I'd take out billboard space.

What a tidy, little group of fascists these lot are. Really, it's like one step above of accusing George Bush of "stealing" an election. It's called democracy and in a country with universal suffrage it's considered fair. Who is anyone to threaten anything because something doesn't go their way? Maybe the French have absolutely had it with these thugs and think Sarkozy might turn their country around socially, as well as economically. Democracy is one of the things that make Western civilisation work. Oil props up Islamic dictatorships. I guess those protesters are right- no blood for oil. Let's find oil elsewhere or another fuel source and screw the House of Saud.

Okay, I'll talk about something else.

Did you know that May 30th is not only the feast-day of Saint Joan of Arc but also National Potato Day in Peru? In the spirit of the day, enjoy some garlic smashed potatoes.
Do it for the children!

Good for her.

Dude, the ears.

Gidohapshida.

The Postman Always Rings Twice....

...before leaving your parcel with a neighbour.

Happy Mother's Day. Enjoy the ice cream cake before it melts.

Thousands in Italy protest a "marriage" bill. It may very well be a million but the press will never admit to a thing like that. I guess Italians know a stupid idea when they see it. Couples, if you want to live together, be grown up and GET MARRIED legally. And gays, you're not a race so stuff your racism fluff.

Members of the press hoping to re-live the glories of Abu Gharib and milk the nothingness of Guantanamo will be disappointed to hear this. That's right, the West has more humanity than roving bands of fanatics whose idea of a good time is shooting women and using children as human shields. Who said the Canadian mission in Afghanistan was bad?

Girls who cry foul whenever they are cut from the team aren't helping humanity in general. Just saying.

Michael Moore- lying sack of...whatever- is at his usual tricks with his new crockumentary, "Sicko". He is under fire from the U.S. Treasury Department for taking American citizens to be treated in one of Cuba's delapidated hospitals. Cuba has come to his defence, crying censorship. Cuba has the moral authority to speak about this because they have never arrested poilitical dissidents or arrested writers or anything. Anyway, Cuba's healthcare situation is far from ideal, as you can see here and here.

Fascist Mickey and the New Low. Wow, the "religion of peace" never fails to disappoint in this area, does it?
I am so tired of people coddling these butchers, misogynists and bigots. This is what they are like. There is no perversion and there certainly isn't an excuse. Read this about pork. I mean- how do they even come to such conclusions? They are mad.

I sure hope the Pope is right about this (ah, of course he is).

Let us end this post with some ferrets.

Why Run?

If we run, then we will be Spain.

Consider the losses during the First World War, the Second World War (particularly Vimy Ridge and Dieppe), the Korean War and now. As terrible as any loss of life may be, the losses incurred recently are nowhere near the losses of the past and we were then far from running.

If we can't afford lives, then we cannot afford surrender. The Afghanis will lose the most. By allowing terrorists to threaten us and alter our foreign policy, we put ourselves at risk, anyway. Our opinions and motions on the world stage will be meaningless. Canada will be nothing, less than air and a dhimmi. I suggest we draw the line in the sand and say it doesn't even begin, let alone end, here.

Let us remember who put us there.

Like it or not, we are there. Let's do some good while we're at it. Someone in the world depends on Canada. We can't afford to let them- nor ourselves- down.

End of the Month Randomness! Everything Must Go!

To wit-

Is this Iraq? Wow! What an oasis! It's too bad Saudi-funded terrorists (militia-men if you're Michael "I'm Too Sexy for My Fat" Moore) are killing its citizens. Arabs stand by Arabs, I guess- so they can kill them better.

Iraq is a war that is fought by the media, not by bombs or guns which studies indicate are supremely beneficial for such things. What I'm trying to say is: guns don't kill people; believers of an Arab pedophile do.

I'd like to apologise for using the word "sexy" in conjunction with "Michael Moore". Nothing about that opportunistic, lying slob is in any way appealing and I apologise without reservation (something Shinzo Abe can't do- hiyoooooo!). It will never happen again.

Speaking of sexy, this might be old news if you actually still watch the should-be-defunct TV series, ER, but Goran Visnjic is leaving. Why didn't he leave before they wrote his character into the ground? All those wasted seasons! He could have appeared on a TV series as a sexy lawyer working in a sexy law firm trying sexy cases.

Okay, I'll stop saying sexy.

But one thing I won't stop doing is rocking!

Speaking of that, a good friend had the grandest generosity to send me a Patty Griffin CD. If you haven't had your Patty Griffin fix, get it.

By request, a comment on the pet poisonings. I am not wholly familiar with the cases but reports have it that food made from contaminated grain from China sickened or killed family pets. China has apologised for something it claims it is not responsible for. What? This is too much! Like China hasn't done something to maim or otherwise screw with the rest of the world (SARS, Tibet, its own people, Falun Gong, North Korea). Why have anything to do with China at all?

Why hasn't this and this incurred the wrath of PETA? Oh yeah- special interest groups, lawsuits and all that. A rock, a hard place and completely screwed.

If you haven't bought a copy of Mark Steyn's America Alone, do so. I ordered it because I knew I wouldn't get it at Indigo's or Chapter's. Apparently, this best-seller is just not popular, which is why it is a best seller. Anyway, I started reading it and I'm already in the middle.

And now for a surprise.

Weekly Randomness

Yes, it's time for more weekly randomness.

The Estonian government plans to move a statue dedicated to Soviet war dead to a park outside of the capital Talinn. This quote from Polish think-tank crystalises, at least for me, the horrid victim culture Russia has immersed itself in order to never acknowledge and ultimately make amends for its many, many wrong-doings of the past:

Russia has never come to terms with its history. Russians continue to see
themselves only as victims of World War II, he said, and ignore the dictatorial
systems they imposed on the countries they liberated from the Germans.

Yes, Russia, the perennial victim. Pogroms, the gulags, the Ukrainian famine, the Katyn forest massacre, the Second World War, Dieppe (this poorly thought out and executed plan was brought on by the former Soviet Union's threats to make peace with the Germans), the Korean War, the Hungarian revolution, Prague Spring, the attempted assassination of John Paul II (it wasn't enough that they took over Poland; they had to squash its liberator, too), Alexander Litivenko, the recent protests against the authoritarian Putin. Yes, Russia is quite the victim- a victim of its own making. The West has put up with its denial and deflection even the Russian people and their erstwhile victims are tired of it.

Is the EU going to allow this and this from a prospective member? I should hope not.

Pope Benedict has revised the teaching on Limbo. Limbo was the place where unbaptised babies waited before going to Heaven. I've never felt it was a punishment but something that confirmed baptism as the thing that we needed for salvation. I never felt anyone was being punished but without that necessary step they could not advance until it was time. Just me.

Earth Day- crock or something that just happens to fall on my mum's birthday? YOU be the judge.

Mark Steyn is the hammer to society's nail.

Aw, damn.

And, finally, no one ever says Italy.

Spring in Korea

It has been spring for a while with some lovely results. See here.

My particular favourites are the magnolias.

What Else...?

Do we need any more reasons why North Korea and its backer, China, are evil?

There should be no quarter given to China or Russia, the very countries that have conspired to keep Korea separate since its liberation. Hold them responsible for allowing everything that has gone on up until this point. I'm sure the survivors of the North Korean regime will take care of Kim Il-Sung's fat progeny themselves (Satan has a good grasp of Il-Sung's love handles as we speak).
As for the South Koreans' morally lazy government, well... can one teach empathy?

No Freaking Kidding

The average Canadian family spends more on taxes for subpar services we lord over the Americans than anything else.

That's the land of socialist bliss for you.

VT

I didn't want to post something here because I don't want to milk a hot story (because, really, that's all it is until there is another shooting or something to do with Anna Nicole Smith). I will make a few points.

Gun control wouldn't have stopped this, prevented this, or made it less of a tragedy. People who want to kill will find a way and not everyone who owns a gun is a psychopath.

Candlelight vigils don't ever help and are complete waste of wax.

South Korea, no one will look at you if you don't draw attention to yourselves. Stop being so self-conscious.

Randomness in Space!

It's like "Pigs in Space" but with more stuff.

First thing on the agenda: stupidity.

Hijab-gate. We've had the Herouxville debacle, Daddy's little soccer pawn, a woman so desperate to be shanked that she would fight to keep her hijab in a prisoner's reach, "reveal yourself or not vote" (sidebar to this article: it's always about THEM. Poor, little victims. Or poor, little attention-getters. Or people trying to deflect public anger at their stupidity and selfishness) and now a taekwondo team unable to spar because the hijab is more important than displaying martial arts prowess. The special interest groups are right. This shouldn't be an issue. In Canada, one is either a Canadian and willing to conform to its laws and customs or someone with an airplane ticket en route out of Canada. Safety is another concern, especially where the workplace has dangerous and resourceful offenders. The employers and team coaches should have brought up the issues of rules and safety instead of being cowards afraid of losing their jobs or being tarred by the likes of CAIR or some other terrorist- I mean- special interest group. I personally think the girls and ladies should be glad they are in a country where they are allowed to be educated, have jobs and drive themselves to work. Perhaps they would like to go to Saudi Arabia?

Hi, Don Imus. Bye, Don Imus.

To be fair, though, if he gets fired, take out rappers, too. I don't see why their gutter-speak is better than Imus'.

If you want a reason why you shouldn't support the Green Party (other than they are not a real party) look no further than this. I realise there is an element of this kind of thing in Canada and those people will ultimately be ashamed as soon as it is revealed that they are craven cowards with no sense of self and the world around them. That, and the friends and relatives will probably give them such a beating. (For the legal purposes, I am not advocating anything.)

I don't trust these people to be brought on by principle. They probably didn't read this book and now are too embarrassed to go back on it, hence, "the stand". That's why we always read the books before let our students read them. I mean, they could have been celebrating Christmas in that book!

An "Oh my God" moment.

Second thing on the agenda, North Korea. They have, again, failed to comply with orders preventing them from destroying the Korean Peninsula.

If this is true then what does it say when the Japanese, once enemies of the Koreans, care more for the plight of the North Koreans than their cousins to the south do? This is not to denigrate the efforts of some South Korean interest groups who face uphill slogs in their efforts to help the North Koreans but their government sure sucks.

Somebody had better remember the Holocaust because the Iranians won't. (Well, maybe not all of them).

I'm not sure this is entirely true but considering who they are, it probably is.

Does Hollywood disgust you yet?

I close with a sight so shocking, so horrifying, it will make you shudder- a dog begging for his breakfast.

Easter Eggs

These are some rather nice Easter eggs I saw somewhere. I do like the imagery- the deer, the fish, even the swirls and dots. There is a purpose behind the act of decorating eggs, traditionally a symbol of Easter. The eggs themselves become canvasses for some kind of expression.

Easter Post

To one and all, a happy Easter.

I had a rather nice time on Sunday. I had breakfast with some friends. We chatted, reminded ourselves why The Simpsons (earlier episodes) were funny and ate some really nice pancakes and omelets (mmm....omelets...)

And let's not forget the candy.....

Spring has sprung here in Korea. I do like it when the magnolias come into bloom. They are very beautiful flowers and very fragrant (just like the camelias in Jeju). The weather here is getting warmer but it is still quite cool. It must be enjoyed now because come June and July the heat will be oppressive. Have you ever had to peel clothes off of you before you put them on? Come here and experience that for yourself.

Speaking of Korea, the North Koreans will let inspectors in to see their Russo-Iranian-made reactors when the funds are released.

I don't think so.

Angelina Jolie has added another orphan to her United Colors of Benneton gaggle.

See the skyline in Washington, DC.

Until something annoys or strikes me, Peace of Christ and peace-out.

Calvary

...all the world is hungry and cannot be filled...

Hear, hear!

This columnist has it right.

People will mock what they don't understand and count on those never to hold it against them. Their courage is incredibly lacking when they should take a stand against something everyone should abhor.

Turn the other cheek indeed.

Turning a Blind Eye Yet Again

When is the West going to care about this?

Never?

I thought so.

Set your faces like flint. Nobody said it would be easy for us.

A Bad Start to Holy Week

Chocolate Jesus.

There are at least two things wrong with this. Not only did this "chocolatier" insult Christ, the Savior of us all, but he used sweet, sweet chocolate to do it. See you in hell, candy-boy.

I have actually seen a photo of this. You can see a picture of this because it's not a cartoon of Mohammed, whom we are never to see if we value our standing consulates, churches, places of business or nuns.

Oh, by the way....

The "artist" is apparently worried about a Catholic "fatwa", whatever that means. If Bill Donahue, the bulldog of the Catholic rights movement, is considered fatwa, then he should consider himself "fatwa-ed".

Why is This a Discussion?

Muslims wishing to vote in the Quebec election must show their faces.

Why is this a discussion? When I was called to vote, I had to be registered, show up at such-and-such a polling station between certain hours with some form of identification and something with my permanent address on it. I had to be checked off before I could vote. After that, my hand was stamped and I had to leave the premises.

People have to be told that unidentifiable and unregistered residents cannot vote? How much stupidity does Canada have to display at any given moment? At least officials (and only, I believe, due to other residents threatening to come in with other kinds of masks, ect.) realised their gross would-be error and corrected it.

Gear up, Quebec, you dying province, you. This isn't the first fight you'll have on your hands and it certainly won't be the last of "burn, baby, burn" you'll hear.

The Lowest of the Low

If you need more proof of the kind of scum that should be blown out of their socks, look no further than this.

What is wrong with these people? I swear there must be a ring in hell just for them.

From the Depths of Randomness Comes More Randomness!

From my current backyard....

Disney's next production could be "The Lion Kim". (It's all alleged, apparently.)

A sample of lunacy from the last Stalinist state in the world. Horrifying, really. What is more horrifying- and mind-boggling- is that their cousins in the south would use them as slave labour. You stand by your family, I suppose.

Number 3 in al-Qaeda's consortium of complete lunacy has confessed to whole number of things, including planning the September 11th attacks. I guess those lamb dinners really paid off in Guantanamo.

An example of how some people should never be teachers simply because they have no freaking idea what they are talking about. I'm sure this "educator" was quick to mention how people are really treated in Muslim countries. Perhaps not. Stoning women to death, rape, jailing of journalists and other acts of extremist terror are not things one brings up in polite society, but it's all justified.

Now for something completely different....

For those of you who haven't, see The Queen. It is one of those movies that, though extremely well-done, will make you leave the theatre in disgust because the whole idea of "emotionally retarded" people leading a country because they think it is God's Will and the people who allow it is repulsive to the intellect. That, and Helen Mirren rocks!

This Saturday is Saint Patrick's Day. Everybody loves Saint Patrick's Day!

I leave you now with hedgehogs massaging a cat.

Truth

It's good to see someone toe the line- in a good way. This is why Pope Benedict's pronouncements are always good to my ears (or eyes).

Catholics who don't support abortion, gay "marriage" or random divorce and are in a state of grace are free to accept Communion. As the previous Pope, John Paul the Great, and a handful of priests and bishops with guts have said, one must be in a state of grace in order to recieve one of the seven sacraments of the Church. It's in the Catechism. It's a part of the philosophy. Suck it up.

If one does not like it, then they are welcome to use the free will God gave them and leave for a church or religion that is more accomodating to their willy-nilly wishes.

Just saying is all.

God Keep Our Land Glorious and Free

Canada's survival is due to immigration according to this article.

Being a New World country, it has always been dependant on new bodies entering and making a go of it on the second biggest landmass on Earth. Each new person or group of people have added to the country and, when asked, claimed they were Canadian.

Now, Canada is stop A or B for the culturally lazy or confused. One is only a Canadian when it serves a purpose. The older generations, too weak, lazy or unwilling to say or do anything, will soon be in no position to argue. After all, who are we to demand that the new blood speak the official languages, obey local laws or customs, or even ask they give something to the country that has been so good to ignore their lack of etiquette, education or ability to be useful in any way?

This is how a country dies.

What is wrong with asking that someone, to whom a refuge was given, give back something in return? Is it too much to ask that in official circles they speak either English or French (and it's English by a mile) or that they respect local laws and customs even if they are different from what the new body is used to?

The problem is the existing body of Canadians. Multiculturalism, giving sway to the French or any other group that whines enough, failure to perpetuate its own species and the nearly complete lack of common sense and decency are ways in which Canada is circling the drain. Why should new immigrants- however they entered the country- adhere to any laws or principles if Canadians think it is beneath themselves to go to church, marry, obey its own laws, hold fast to its principles or even call themselves Canadian? Canada is a joke because it will not be what it should be- a country. Multiculturalism might make us feel good about hiding our latent racism or the fact that we have no idea where so-and-so is from but it doesn't make for good public policy. Lingua anglia not lingua franca. It's not an ethnophobic statement but a reality. Shacking up might sound cute but really just shows how the respective partners have an inability to be adults and make a commitment. What- the word of law and God are beneath a couple of people who will ultimately separate because one of them is a cat person? Yes, really mature.

Some may smile quietly to themselves that immigrants are keeping the country alive but that is nothing new. Perhaps they should smile when the country is filled with Canadians, not just people who say they are.

Deflection and Denial

It worked for the former Soviet Union and it is working here, too.
The Israelis are the last people the Christians should be worried about. So says this.
How easily we forget or just plain choose not point the finger in the right direction.

A Little Bit of Hero Worship

If Hollywood was a meritocracy then people like Adam Beach would be A-listers (Goran Visnjic would be a My-lister- teeheehee) and people like Tom Cruise or George Clooney would have to bribe a doorman to be let in an Oscar party.

Edwards' Blogger Resigns; World Offers a Hearty "Finally!"

John Edwards' controversial (read: vulgar and bigotted) blogger, Amanda Marcotte has resigned.

Here is a segment of her resignation notice. It has not been altered in any way.

I was hired by the Edwards campaign for the skills and talents I bring to the table, and my willingness to work hard for what’s right. Unfortunately, Bill Donohue and his calvacade of right wing shills don’t respect that a mere woman like me could be hired for my skills, and pretended that John Edwards had to be held accountable for some of my personal, non-mainstream views on religious influence on politics (I’m anti-theocracy, for those who were keeping track). Bill Donohue—anti-Semite, right wing lackey whose entire job is to create non-controversies in order to derail liberal politics—has been running a scorched earth campaign to get me fired for my personal beliefs and my writings on this blog.
In fact, he’s made no bones about the fact that his intent is to “silence” me, as if he—a perfect stranger—should have a right to curtail my freedom of speech. Why? Because I’m a woman? Because I’m pro-choice? Because I’m not religious? All of the above, it seems.
Regardless, it was creating a situation where I felt that every time I coughed, I was risking the Edwards campaign. No matter what you think about the campaign, I signed on to be a supporter and a tireless employee for them, and if I can’t do the job I was hired to do because Bill Donohue doesn’t have anything better to do with his time than harass me, then I won’t do it. I resigned my position today and they accepted.

Now, my commentary-

What skills would she be referring to? The cussmouth ones? I guess that would take a special kind of cussmouth to be hired by an ambulance-chaser with Presidential dreams.

Her victimisation seems most appropriate for someone who generally is clueless, classless and without decent writing skills. I've seen this kind of victimisation and deflection before- in children. If caught, a child will deny he's done something wrong. If he cannot deny it, he will implicate someone else as well in order to lessen the penalty to himself, or even blame someone and never just accept that he and he alone is responsible for what he's done. One is a little more patient with a child, a being not expected to master self-reflection and accept his wrong-doings, but one is plain out disgusted with someone who claims to be an adult as Amanda does. I really expect her to be locked in her room, threatening to pull out her hair until mommy and daddy buy her something. After an hours-long stand-off, she is brought out with juice and a trip to the mall while her older brother looks on in disgust. I'm sure Amanda has done this before.

Her accusation that Bill Donahue is an anti-Semite is another priceless gem of self-deflection and, even more so, sour grapes. How is he an anti-Semite? I'm curious. It's typical for certain persons or groups to cast aspersions on others because they don't share this, that or the other view, or if they are instrumental in another's downfall (i.e.- Amanda's). If Amanda only saw how simple it was- insult someone, they don't thank you for it. She would never have gotten away with the things she wrote had they been directed at, let's say, blacks or Muslims (she would have gone into hiding then). She should not be surprised that anyone would be happy that she refers to sacred persons or anybody in the most vulgar terms.

Right-wing shills caused her to resign? Does she mean the Illuminati or the Free Masons? I'm surprised she doesn't come right out and blame the Jews. She resigned because the heat was too much. Remember- she "apologised" before she resigned. Again, she is a victim of powerful shadowy men. If you are calling about the bridge, I still have it. Call back on Saturday.

Amanda Marcotte really thinks she is that important to be targeted by anyone. Why? Has anyone heard of her prior to this? This entire episode is her only claim to fame. After that, it's back to being Miss Nobody again. If she inflates her ego this much, you can only imagine the pure excrement she writes (I do mean that in every sense of the word) is just fanciful.

There is the usual "being hated for being a woman/not religious/ect". Typically thoughtless victimhood and typically wrong. Has it ever occurred to her that her "writings" might be- oh- offensive, as she deliberately meant them (hiding in her office, away from prying eyes)? Michelle Malkin is a woman and she has covered this more than I have. I've spent valuable bandwidth covering this when I could have devoted things more important than this insincere, trashy little moron. Does she realise that I could have posted a recipe for fruit curry or started a debate on which is cuter- mini-mew or the baby tiger? Thanks, Amanda. Now the world will never see. So selfish she is, and a bad writer, too!

I should move on. Surely, another bigot with a foul mouth couldn't be worth my attention, could it?

Hoping to Dispel a Few Myths

Angered (as usual) over a list forbidding time-honoured traditions of stoning women and covering their faces, Muslim women (with their male escorts, of course) hope to dispel a few myths the residents of Herouxville, Quebec may have about Islam and, in so doing, bring understanding and peace. What myths would those be? That Islam is rational, peaceful and has added greatly to both Western and Eastern civilisations? Sure it has, if by progress one means shooting nuns in the back, flying planes into the sides of buildings, raping women for any reason whatsoever, attacking a country that has been all but fair to you, burning down consulates, bombing buses, trains, and general anti-Semitisim, misogyny and racism. I mean- if you have to actually tell people NOT to stone women to death and someone gets angry about it, then really, yours' is an insane culture. It just is.

Now I'm Mad!

(Warning: There will language that may offend some. Don't blame me, though.)

John Edwards, Presidential hopeful and ambulance-chaser extraordinaire, thought, for whatever reason, that hiring Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwan, bloggers at Pandagon.net and Shakespeare's Sister respectively, was a good idea. For those who don't know or who have better things to do than read their blogs, these women enjoy revelling in anti-Christian, in particular, anti-Catholic bigotry. Their posts are groundless and filled with profanity and vitriol.

Now, I know that is okay to insult Catholics because, as we all know, they don't have feelings, but I have a few good reasons why hiring these women as official blogmasters of a Presidential hopeful's campaign is a BAD idea.

Reason the first- the office of the President- the highest office in the land and, indeed, the world (let's not deny it)- should be above reproach, but not above criticism. After all, we don't live in Iran or North Korea. What I mean to say is, the president must carry himself in a dignified manner and those around him must be of sound mind and ethics. Having people who resort to epithets like "Christo-fascists" and "godbags" just isn't the image of supporters you want.

Reason the second- Catholics DO have feelings, and they vote, too. Prick them, they bleed. Insult the Virgin Mary, they find a reason why they should never vote for you in a million years. It's called democracy. Citizens of good reason and appropriate age choose the candidate they like and vote for him. Why should they choose a candidate that allows bigots to speak for them? Sure, that might not wash for Amanda and Melissa and they would probably call Catholics and Catholic voters "stupid" (that's "f---ing stupid" for the Kos Kids) and "baby-machines" and "fascists" but them's the breaks. Democracy- it's what separates us from the animals. That, and hooves.

Reason the third- ditto for everybody else they insulted, like here, for example.

Reason the fourth- we've all said things that might not be- how shall we say?- appropriate. It happens. However, with Amanda, it happens, like, every second word. Is this supposed to be an effort to show us she is serious, that her posts are valid, edgy and legitimate? How about "in the gutter"? A bigot and a moron will resort to the lowest forms of language and humour in order to get attention. Take away the cuss words and what do you have? Nothing. Bigots add nothing to culture as a whole. They are the people we don't want to acknowledge. They are an embarrassment. Their views, their language, even their very being. Everyone at this point (with the exception of the backtracking Edwards) wants to distance themselves from these twits, even the Democrats.

Reason the fifth- Amanda doesn't even have the courage to stand by her bigotted convictions (and she wishes she were as every bit as important and desirable she tries to make herself out to be. With every fibre of her being she does). When Edwards was asked to fire the offending bloggers (which he did and then re-hired), she cowered down and tried to retract the statements she could and cover up others. She tries to pass herself and her comments as some kind of defense of the freedoms we should all enjoy. Is she joking? Has anyone read her garbage? It is clearly bigotted and profane. But when backed in a corner, she see how she acts. Just like Edwards, she bowed under political pressure. I think Amanda Marcotte is the same kind of person who, if confronted by an angry reader, would run away or curl herself in a ball on the floor, shouting: "I'm an armadillo! I'm an armadillo! You can't get me! I'm an armadillo!" It would be at this point that the angry reader, bewildered, back away because it couldn't get any more pathetic than that. Probably.

In short, employing people whose agenda is clearly vulgar and bigotted is not the smartest thing to do. But who am I to argue? I'm Canadian. I don't have to live with the election, just the outcome. If John Edwards wishes to blow his chances with these self-important ho-bags, why stop him? One less idiot in the races.

Links to the Pandagon debacle that are informative, funny and good for you: LGF has a few, Slinky has a really good one and an over-the-top but funny and sadly relevant one from a fellow named Iowahawk.

Other stuff that fries me:

Amanda Marcotte, draft-dodgers, Khadrs, every other loser who seeks refuge in the Great White North, get the hell out out! We don't want you!

A day of rage? Impossible! Entirely unpredicted. Shocking, even!

But not as shocking as this.

Is this chick for real? Whoa- someone's wearing their anti-Semitism on their sleeve.

Okay, why isn't this on the front pages? North Korea and Darfur- the forgotten causes.

If you are from Canada and pay exorbitantly high taxes for those "wonderful" services, then this should be no surprise.

I leave this post with kittens crawling over one another. Not angrily, though.

The Weekly Stuff

Ah, I couldn't think of a better title.

Moving on....

Twit.

Yeah, like these guys should talk. When there is transparency from the North, maybe.

Let's keep our eyes on this. Certain death awaits those who try to defect from North Korea. Let us in the West never forget.

Yet another reason why Sharia law should be banned from the universe (and my universe includes Quebec!).

I wish someone would tell this moron what's what. Look- many people have tried to destroy the Church and they've ALL failed. This man and his merry band of jihadists will fail just as surely as they have failed to grasp the basic concepts of democracy, decency and handwashing. I mean- look at their signs. They can't even get their rhetoric straight. See what happens when you ban education in favour of guns and slapping one's wife around?

The Britons should remember that Neville Chamberlain was a coward and a fool, too, when they look back on this enormous blunder and insult.

I knew John Kerry was stupid, I just never realised he was THAT stupid.

Who gave this guy a medical license? Who? Find him. Find him and kick his @$$. Has this idiot ever seen a child in a Third World country die of a disease that no longer cripples children in industrialised nations? I'm not a doctor and I never claimed to be, but even I know that his "science" (for lack of a better term- wait! Quackery! That's it!) is extremely flawed.

"Year of the Pig" ads banned in China? Ban THIS!

Selective coverage. Oh yeah.

Holy cow!

I could have told you this.

This is what's needed. I can't understand why Holocaust denial is allowed to run rampant in some groups. It is an historical fact and a tragedy. I remember seeing "Schindler's List" with my brother. There were kids our age laughing at the violence within the movie, despite being warned to shut up. These are the same idiots who could not care less about any human tragedy. Unfortunately, there is no website for empathy.

Who is the State- or the Crown, for that matter- to tell people how to discipline their kids? Abuse is one thing, discipline is something else. Common sense should dictate things, not sentiment or pop psychology.

And this is all the mews that's fit to print.

More Posts Mean More Iron

...And we all need more iron.

To the posts-

A sketch showing what appears to be a down-and-out country singer worried that his Saviour is watching him in the shower was aired on the Conan O'Brien show (yeah, it's still on). I'm not so much offended as I am bored. I mean, really. Is there any limit to the juvenile excresences Hollywood et al won't work into their sagging careers? They think they are so clever doing this but all it shows is the depth to which they will sink to get the attention of some real twits, and really- can a person or group who can't be provoked be provoked? Anti-Christianity and anti-Catholicism is fair game these days because aside from a few angry e-mails, nothing will come of it. It is still funny to mock other people's beliefs, right? As someone pointed out, if the producers and writers of that show had any wontons they would mock Mohammed. I think educated people or anyone who has ever read a newspaper knows what the "religion of peace" would say about that.

According to Aziz Sheikh, primary care professor at Edinburgh University, Muslims should be treated differently (read: preferentially) under the NHS. Uh, no. They can get the same treatment- or lack thereof- that everyone else gets. That, or start their own damn health service, maybe like the one in Afghanistan with a high maternal and child mortality rate.

Sigh. Is there anything Michael Coren can't do? Here he provides yet another reason why all funding for the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) should be stopped. Look- if I'm not going to buy ER's traipsing through Africa or helicopters landing on people or token lesbians, or Grey's Anatomy, period, I sure as hell am not going to buy this.

And finally, there's this- it's like Jenga for puppies.

All These Posts for the Price of One!

Finnish editors were fined for printing a letter which advocated violence against Jews and considered the Holocaust to be acceptable. As loathsome as the letters and its writer may be, don't fine the editors. It is their job to print pertinent news and opinions. Otherwise, one would be Yemen or some such place. That, and everyone should know the identity of the aforementioned moron so they know to avoid him.

If I am correct in my understanding of terms of office in South Korea, one can be president for only one term of five years. Beleagered- and ineffectual- President Roh Moo-Hyun's proposal for a term revision will probably fall on deaf ears.

President Roh's idea to rename the East Sea falls on sarcastic ears. I wish everybody would stop arguing and name it after me.

Tourist trips to Mount Gumgang are not as profitable as one would hope. Who wouldn't want to prop up a dictatorship run by a fat, greedy and maniacal tyrant? Especially one with nuclear weapons.

For your cinematic pleasure, I give you Choi Min-Shik- the Korean Robert De Niro (conversely, Robert De Niro is the American Choi Min-Shik)

And in this corner...! A Saddam Hussein loyalist (!) and a journalist (Persian, so I hear) don't just debate Hussein's execution, they nearly fight about it. (Watch how the moderator tries to be civil.) If someone called me a shoe, I would punch him in the stomach! But seriously, how the hell can anyone still defend him? I mean- this is like Stalinism after he joined the ranks in hell. Unbelieveable.

Is anyone tired of Angelina Jolie? Anyone? If not, let me give a fresh reason why you should be disgusted with this immoral attention-getter. A hypocrite, a freak, a selective adopter, a Hollywood actress. This place says it better than I could.

In conclusion, mew.

Oh, yes- Happy MEW Year

Nothing Need More Be Said

Saddam Hussein is dead.

The deposed tyrant was tried carefully and fairly- something he denied his many victims- judged, condemned to death and, finally, hanged.

If this drivel was to be believed and its logic followed, people like Hitler and Stalin would be mourned.

I don't know what has to be said or done to make people believe that not are there tyrants but when they are actually punished it is a right and just cause.

I really can't think of a way.

Yet Another Publicity Stunt

An elderly gay couple is denied Communion.
So?
Surely, they should know that if they engage in mortal sin then they cannot receive Communion. Any Catechism student could tell you that.
Furthermore, if anyone wishes to buck a system - any system- then don't expect the said system to come through for them.
This is a ploy to make two people one would think knew better as helpless victims of a heartless establishment.
Whatever.
I'm not buying, even if some bleeding heart might.

THIS is the Religion of Peace

Iran opens its first conference to determine whether the Holocaust in an historical reality.

Let us be clear on one thing- this is certainly not an objective academic inquiry into an historical reality. It's just good, old-fashioned Jew-hating.

And there are people who think we should do nothing about them developing nuclear weapons.

Ho, Ho, Ho

Now, you know how I feel about Christmas, particularly contrary views concerning one of the best days of the year, so it is only natural that I become inflamed over this (thank you, LGF). Operation Christmas Child, a project spearheaded by a sectarian organisation called the Samaritan's Purse, has decided against any Christian flair regarding their presents to Muslim countries, meaning that there would be no items that are blatantly Christian and, in this case, Christmas-like in their appearance. Some people may think this is a correct swing in the multi-cultural direction but I think it is a big mistake.

In countries that profess cultural pluralism, there should be no reason why anyone objects to any holiday. People are different and will do things differently from someone else. Deal with it.

As a Christian organisation, Samaritan's Purse should not lose sight of its mission, nor should it abandon Christian values or sentiments for the sake of a few obviously picky beggars (funny how today's reading in Mass was the widow's mite).

Leading up to my next point, beggars CAN'T be chooses. Ever. If one has nothing then it should not matter who gives one anything. I doubt North Koreans resent the aid that the Japanese give them (though, not so much now, due to the nuclear crisis).

It seems the vastly cash-strapped Muslims can't (or won't) look after their own, leaving the burden to other less Muslim (Christian/Jewish/Buddhist) countries, individuals and organisations to look after their downtrodden despite the scorn, the danger and who can forget the words of the prophet: Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security. Allah biddeth you beware (only) of Himself. Unto Allah is the journeying.

Well, if that's the case, how about I give nothing? At least someone would have a reason not to like me (aside from the fact that I'm an educated Christian female who makes her own living independant from a male). Yes, the situation is difficult because children are involved but their lot in life has long since been decided by the whims of wicked men no one in any position of power will do anything about.

Santa is coming to town, but not Jakarta.

The Final Countdown

It is said that Kim Jong-Il regrets the recent nuclear test. Doubtful. It will resume, with the help of its backers, China and Russia, in a few months. North Korea has never shown good faith in anything, even to its own people, and as long as China and Russia continue to back them and the rest of the world (especially South Korea) continues to wobble on a tougher stance, there is no hope in resolving this peacefully.

Head for Busan, everybody.

Bad Impressions

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak thinks that Muslims are partly to blame for their poor image. Only partly?

The Fuss Over Veils

Is nothing anyone can say that will not offend the Muslims? I guess not.

The recent row over Jack Straw's comments over Muslim women's veils proves time and again how Muslims over-react, how Western society will blindly gloss over this and nod their lazy approval and how the press is more than willing to bend over. Please read here.

Veils DO restrict women. It deliberately separates women from the rest of the community, all the while marking them as a visible minority in countries where Islamic practices are not the norm. A backward and warsome prophet (the word "prophet" is used in the weakest sense imaginable) demanded women that women wear veils. His opinion of women was already low and this trait has sinced been cultivated over the centuries. Men, apparently, cannot use their free will to not act on urges or even have the common decency to not have the urges in the first place and see women as people. Therefore, women must cover up in these wholly uncomfortable and impractical garments.

The teacher in question really shouldn't have a leg to stand on. If her students cannot understand her, then her effectiveness as an educator is diminished. Also, she lives in a country where not only does she NOT have to wear a veil but she can change jobs that would suit her- rather, Islam's- wishes. The fact that she invoked the children is a just lowpoint in her argument. The children couldn't understand her, anyway, and I think parents (and pretty much everyone) are fed up with catering to a minority which has no desire to assimilate or co-operate with the majority.

There are, of course, the special interest groups that decry this criticism as "demonising". Yeah. I'm sure by now that Islam and the Muslim community have done that on their own without the help (read: constructive criticism) of everyone else around them.

If people truly value education then why hire those who point-blank refuse to do their jobs effectively? Will political correctness win out over common sense? Probably at this point.

All Good Dogs Go to Heaven (Muslim Cabbies Don't)

The September 11th attacks did not take the cake. The Danish cartoon crisis did not take the cake. The threat on the current Pope's life barely fluttered an eyelid. Will this be the last straw?

It's bad enough to hate a dog but to refuse a blind person because of one? What the hell kind of religion not only hates dogs but forbids compassion to the blind? The taxi drivers who refuse to help the disabled should be fired, preferrably out of a cannon. There is no health or safety concern here. It is all ideological, and there should no DAMN way the West should put up with it.

O God, Canada...... (groan)

The evacuation of Lebanese-"Canadians" has cost the taxpayers $85 million. Some have suggested expiring or removing the citizenship of said freeloaders but if Canada was plan B for them when Hezbollah was making life miserable for everyone (again!) I don't think that will really bother them (that is until another crisis). No, a more direct and fair approach is needed- bill them. It's only fair to do so. The Japanese have done it. PM Harper can be all Fat Tony on them: I'm afraid I must insist. The taxpayers have been most vocal on the subject of the evacuation money. 'Where is the money? Why aren' you getting the money? Why aren't you getting the money now?', and so on. So, if you please, da money."

That's how it's done.

Just Insufferable

This is why you can't have a "dialogue" with these people. Not that it is morally or intellectually repugnant to do so but impossible.
Just read the words of Saudi cleric, Salman al-Oda:

Nobody says you should face your enemy in the battle with roses or aromatic plants, or that you should give him your head on a platter. Even Christianity, which says that if you are struck on the right cheek, you should turn your left cheek, and if you are asked to give your coat, you should give your shirt as well, also includes the words of Jesus: “I came not to bring peace, but a sword.” As we see, the Christians today are the ones who attack the world of Islam. It is not the world of Islam that is aggressive. Who colonized whom? Who invaded Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and every piece of the world of Islam? The Islamic world is subject to the aggression, the strikes, and the colonialism of the Western powers. Today, we see that the extremist, terrorist American and British administrations are attacking the Islamic world, supporting all the forces of violence and extremism, and abandoning the scales of justice.

Now you listen to me, you piece of crap, the founder of Christianity did not murder others, burn libraries, wage wars or deflower children. If you had the brains to read the entirety of the Pope's address and understand the message of a true religion of peace (the one founded by, as you may remember, "a monkey on the cross" ), then you would know that violence defies reason and is not conjunctive to the human soul, that Pope Benedict XVI was QUOTING a man under seige from lovely representatives of your backward religion and has been studying Islam extensively and that everything the Pope said was proven over and over and over again. Remember, too, that the West did not SHOOT A NUN IN THE BACK (a true martyr and a servant of God who looked after YOUR poor and suffering). There are no American, British or Zionist conspiracies. No one is trying to get you, least of all Christians (you know- whose churches you burn and from whom you demand jeziya- protection money- the pure gratitude of not being beaten up your thugs). You must think the rest of the world is stupid but you. YOU cause your own problems with your violence and ignorance.

I would like to take up Emperor Manuel II Paleogus' question: show me what good Islam has done for society. Where are the hospitals and schools (not the madrassas that recruit future suicide-bombers)? Where are the bodies of art, literature and philosophy? How many wells were dug? How many children immunised? What have you done to make everyone think that yours truly is a religion of peace and not a band of thugs who maim and butcher?

Let the world know when you think of an answer.

Mea Culpa: An Apology

If the Pope won't apologise, then I will.

I'm sorry that the comments you've neither read nor understood offended you. It was wrong for Benedict XVI to quote from an emperor who was under seige from the Ottomans and it was especially wrong for the Pope to even remotely suggest that violence is inconjunctive to the human soul. This is in no way meant to suggest that Islam's roots were mired in violence or that contemporary Muslims resort to irrational violence and/or threats at the slightest criticism or comment. No. In fact, nothing anyone does or says is even remotely radical or violent. It's not an overreaction to refer to Jesus Christ as a "monkey on the cross" (say- isn't He a prophet? Hhmmm?), threaten to assassinate the current Pope as one tried to assassinate the last one, burn churches, effigies or even kill a nun. No, these are reasonable responses for cool-headed, peaceful representatives of a religion that invented everything good under the sun.

And I'm sorry your civilisation didn't work and is propped up by obscenely priced barrels of oil which ultimately pollute the planet. It must be the Jews' fault. It usually is. Who kills Iraqis right now? It's them. Them or the Danes. I forget which.

Anyway, I do hope you accept this apology. If there is anyone who deserves it more, it's you.

Stoking a Fire

The new Holy Father cannot win. At least not the battle of reason. It takes two to reason- one to give an argument or solution and the other to hear it. The Holy Father got the first part right. The Islamic world and the press simply do not have the other.

Here is part of his address (you can read the rest here):

I was reminded of all this recently, when I read the edition by Professor Theodore Khoury (Münster) of part of the dialogue carried on - perhaps in 1391 in the winter barracks near Ankara - by the erudite Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus and an educated Persian on the subject of Christianity and Islam, and the truth of both. It was presumably the emperor himself who set down this dialogue, during the siege of Constantinople between 1394 and 1402; and this would explain why his arguments are given in greater detail than those of his Persian interlocutor. The dialogue ranges widely over the structures of faith contained in the Bible and in the Qur'an, and deals especially with the image of God and of man, while necessarily returning repeatedly to the relationship between - as they were called - three "Laws" or "rules of life": the Old Testament, the New Testament and the Qur'an. It is not my intention to discuss this question in the present lecture; here I would like to discuss only one point - itself rather marginal to the dialogue as a whole - which, in the context of the issue of "faith and reason", I found interesting and which can serve as the starting-point for my reflections on this issue.

In the seventh conversation (controversy) edited by Professor Khoury, the emperor touches on the theme of the holy war. The emperor must have known that surah 2, 256 reads: "There is no compulsion in religion". According to the experts, this is one of the suras of the early period, when Mohammed was still powerless and under threat. But naturally the emperor also knew the instructions, developed later and recorded in the Qur'an, concerning holy war. Without descending to details, such as the difference in treatment accorded to those who have the "Book" and the "infidels", he addresses his interlocutor with a startling brusqueness on the central question about the relationship between religion and violence in general, saying: "Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached". The emperor, after having expressed himself so forcefully, goes on to explain in detail the reasons why spreading the faith through violence is something unreasonable. Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul. "God", he says, "is not pleased by blood - and not acting reasonably...

The bone of contention is this: "Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached".

It does not matter to the Islamic world that Benedict XVI was quoting a conversation between the emperor Manuel Paleogus and "an educated Persian". It does not matter that violence defies reason, the essence of the Holy Father's address. It does not matter that Mohommed did, in fact, carry out his conversions with violence. What does matter is that Islam will not be countenanced or this will happen. It matters to the cowards who still do not understand that Islam is not a peaceful religion and has yet to prove that it is.

Here are some comments left on a BBC message board (not edited but names witheld):

"Pope should not be this much ignorant about islam.Don't ever insult other religions. That should be the underlining principle living in a multi-religious world." (I'll remember you said that.)

"Pope has irreversably lost his respect among the Muslims. His remarks DOES NOT however mean that the respect for Christianity (e.g., in Jesus Christ) has in any way receded in the Muslim world." (They planned to kill the previous Pope. They have no respect for him, Christianity and Christians, nor do they have any love for the proper use of grammar.)

"How dare people say the Pope was wrong. He's infallible so couldn't possibly make a mistake." (That's right. He is infallible. You, on the other hand, are very fallible.)

"Pope hasn't said this intentionally. However, He should have considered that outrage aroused due to insulting Islam by false info in quotation'll worsen Islam image at west.He should have considered that these words'll deepen hatred towards west in Islamic world & will support extremists calling Muslims to fight against illusory crusade. He should have considered that traces of cartoons crisis didn't yet fade away.He should have considered that we're trying to build bridges without more rifts." (What is there to consider? That anything and everything angers people with a short fuse? And there is nothing false about what he said.)

"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO CALL THIS AN OVERREACTION!! " (Keep an eye on this one)

"The Pope should have watch the movie "Kingdom of Heaven", there are bits of history which were based on facts." (Uh- no there aren't. Why are you getting history lessons from Orlando Bloom?)

"It is unfortunate that the leaders in whom we entrust our faith seem to find ways to divide us instead of bringing us together. They should know better. The Pope got it wrong this time, and I am a catholic. If you see the truth please say it." (Coward. How do you like THAT truth?)

Mind, not everything said displayed cowardice, ill will or idiocy but enough comments were made to make one think that people still don't understand that there are those who do not share the values of peace and freedom. However, they would much rather attack an easy target for such a target will never lash out.

It is wrong to compel others to join one's religion by force. It is wrong to resort to violence. Don't remind the Church of that. It already knows. Remind the other guys. I think they have trouble understanding the text.

A few reflections on what everyone was thinking

I said I wouldn't do this because nothing I could post or say would erase the enormity of the disaster (I use the word deliberately) or sway those who, for some reason, believe the events of September 11th are some how the fault of the Great Satan- the West. But I have been thinking.

The West may have risen economically (so too has the Middle East with their outrageously priced barrels of oil) but has declined spiritually and culturally. This should not suggest that it is a society worth abandoning. It is the only society we've ever known and the only one worth clinging onto because the alternatives are worse. Can you imagine a worldwide caliphate run by bin Laden? Sharia law? Morality police? Departments of Religious Genocide? That is what Islamofascists and all the audacity they possess would inflict if we lose our anger and our resolve.

Don't tell me about other religions being at fault or imagined or real crimes. No other religion I can think encourages people to kill in the Name of God (alot of hospitals, museums, soup kitchens and schools have been built, though). As for crimes, who hijacks planes? Who flies them into buildings? Who gathers dangerous materials for wanton destruction and death? Who restricts the movements of women? Who restricts the freedom of the press? Who burns embassies? Who keeps their people impoverished and without hope? Is it us?

Of course it isn't. We have nothing to apologise for or amend. Others do and it's high time we make them do so.

The Summer Wind Came Blowin' In from Across the Sea...

We all remember the episode of The Simpsons when they got the pool and Bart broke his leg and Martin's dreams of popularity ended with ripped shorts. This photo album is nothing like that. It's just some photos of Midlands and a couple of Ottawa and a barbecue.

Enjoy.

Mad Max Beyond the Freeway

Everybody else is talking about Mel Gibson, I might as well, also.

If the reports are true and he did say those disgusting things then he and he alone is to blame, not the alcohol (or Jews as certain persons allege- insert frowny face here). Make him lose his license for driving under the influence (yes, it's still a problem and yes, it's still bad) and have him work at the local Jewish centre for his community service (come on- he works in Hollywood- he'll never go to jail).

What bothers me is how he is referred by the popular press as a "devout Catholic". How does his Catholicism fit in here? And why mention it at all? Did Catholicism make him drink too much, speed down the highway and spew out nasty words? I'm Catholic. I don't do or say those things.

Let's be honest here. If religion must be mentioned at all, shouldn't it be brought up when very pertinent? Recent happenings at home and abroad are fine examples of what should and shouldn't be said. No one brings up religion when a Jewish community centre gets shot up or a town gets levelled. After all, no one wants to admit Muslims nationwide commit crimes of all kinds, promote bigotry or commit other atrocties. In fact, virtually everyone goes out of their way not to blame Muslims or Islam. After, the anti-Semitic, misogynist, incongruent, violence-inducing religion of peace can't be to blame- can it?

I suppose it is only appropriate to mention someone's race, religion or gender in certain situations where the offender is Jewish/Catholic/Asian/female/American. Thank God I live in the twenty-first century.

Shut up, Bill Graham

Bill Graham has criticised the Conservative government's- rather- Prime Minister Harper's quick support of Israel. Mr. Graham would prefer Canada act as an "intermediary" (read: milquetoast with no political clout whatsoever). Mr. Harper feels that Israel's response was appropriate due to Hezbollah's aggression and attacks. Mr. Graham forgets that Israel is constantly under attack from any Arab state and/or Islamic group one cares to mention, that Hezbollah started this and that a man mired in this really shouldn't point fingers or make any pronouncements whatsoever.

Was that low? Maybe. Deserved? Definitely.

You Must Be Joking

Courage? Not bloody likely.

The Greatest Canadian?

Forget the previous post and do try not to make ubermensch connections with this current one.

Tommy Douglas, so-called progenitor of "universal healthcare" (in actuality, the concept was devised and used in a town in Saskatchewan long before he latched on to it) and dubbed the "greatest Canadian of all time", was a fascist who supported sterilisation of the poor, Catholics and the disabled. Please read here.

I suppose none of this should be a surprise. Trudeau had fascist leanings (long before driving Canada into the ground during the Seventies and early Eighties). Emily Murphy and Nellie McClung, members of the Famous Five, were bigots who advocated racial separation and sterilisation (I guess the Canadian Mint should carefully consider who they put on our money). Marc Garneau, astronaut and former Liberal candidate, also made derogatory remarks about the disabled (what is it with Liberals and fascism?). We brush over this because no one wants to admit that the same man who helped to ruin Canada was Hitler sympathiser or that the women who made Canadian women into "persons" just plain didn't like "dark" people. After all, we're a multicultural society!

At least the Austrians revile Hitler.
