Wow, People Totally Have a Handle On This Cornavirus

To recap:

The strain of coronavirus the world is currently seeing - COVID 19 -  is a rhinovirus, a part of the same family as the common cold. It is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 and affects the respiratory tract. Though it was initially reported that the virus that first appeared in Wuhan, China started cropping up in December 2019, some believe it may have been spread as early as October 2019 or perhaps even earlier. Though the Trudeau government knew of this virus as early as February 2020, it did not do anything to prevent its entry into the country. Indeed, it even resisted attempts to restrict and stop airline travel. The Trudeau also handed sixteen tonnes of much-needed personal protective equipment to China which then promptly re-sold it at an inflated price. Though regular face masks are largely ineffective for keeping out the coronavirus microbe and the current Vichy government scoffed at wearing them, they are now a mandatory garment. What followed after February of this year was a disastrous and unnecessary lockdown that shuttered nearly 57,000 small businesses. The current death rate in Canada (as of this writing) is 11,521. Canada's mortality rate currently stands at 3.4% (the US stands at a mere 2.1%). These factors are overlooked by a zealous media that reports verified cases and conflates them with actual deaths. These opaque reports fuel governments and their "great reset" plans, especially ones that could not provide even basic protective equipment to its medical community but does throw around money and material that someone else gave it as though it was bountiful.

And now back to our regularly-scheduled gong show:

More than five million arrivals into Canada have been allowed to skip the 14-day quarantine requirement put in place when the country closed its borders to non-essential travel in late March, the Canada Border Services Agency estimates.

The data — which was compiled by the CBSA at the request of CBC News — shows that more than 80 per cent of the 6.5 million total arrivals into Canada between March 31 and Nov. 12 were exempt from the quarantine meant to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The arrival numbers include repeat entries by the same person.

Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador are temporarily pulling out of the Atlantic bubble for at least two weeks, following a rise in COVID-19 cases in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

A new wave of pandemic shutdowns may “have a greater impact on the health of Canadians” than the coronavirus, the Commons health committee was told. The remarks followed the Prime Minister’s direction that Canadians again stay home and avoid non-essential travel: “Millions of Canadians suffered.”

Addressing the virtual G20 summit on Saturday night, Xi said a global mechanism involving mutual recognition of health certificates, including nucleic acid test results in the form of QR codes, could be used to enable cross-border travel.

Outspoken Aylmer, Ontario pastor Henry Hildebrandt received a letter from his local health unit asking that he “voluntarily” close the doors of his church in an effort to combat the “increased risk” of COVID-19 transmission. Except there has never been a single case of the virus at Hildebrandt’s church.

What would Jesus do?

Yep.

Does anyone remember when people warned that euthanasia would be a "slippery slope" and soon the desire to die would be the duty?

I do:

Russell, described by her family as exceptionally social and spry, was one such person. Her family says she chose a medically-assisted death (MAID) after she declined so sharply during lockdown that she didn’t want to go through more isolation this winter.

And I am disgusted with the human race.

Out of that number, 75.3% of Albertans who died had done so while suffering “with 3 or more conditions” in addition to COVID-19.

The next highest figure were those suffering from two comorbidities in addition to COVID-19, which made up 16.5% of cases. Those with one extra condition made up 5.4%. And those without a comorbidity were 2.7% of the tally, or 10 persons.

As the Alberta government’s website explains: “The following comorbidities are included in respective analyses: Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD, Cancer, Dementia, Stroke, Liver cirrhosis, Cardiovascular diseases (including IHD and Congestive heart failure), Chronic kidney disease, and Immuno-deficiency.”

Note that old age is not listed as a comorbidity. So if any of the 282 Albertans who died of COVID-19 who are over 80 years old did not have a comorbidity they would be included in this tally of 10 deaths.

And while the government doesn’t offer categories for those who have died in their 90s and 100s beyond lumping them in the 80+ category, previous announcements from chief medical officer Deena Hinshaw have confirmed that there have been deaths in this cohort.

What does this tell us? For one, that there are a number of persons out there who are facing multiple serious health challenges and that they are particularly vulnerable to dying from COVID-19.

Their lives matter and we need to think of ways to better serve them.

Ontario is moving the COVID-19 hotspots of Toronto and Peel Region into lockdown starting Monday. Schools and child care centres will remain open.

The move will close cinemas, gyms, museums and sports facilities, and will restrict restaurants to all but delivery and takeout. Retail stores are also set to be limited to curbside pickup and delivery only.

South Australia state Premier Steven Marshall told a media conference in Adelaide that one man at a pizza bar tied to the outbreak told contact tracers he had only bought a pizza there, when he had actually worked several shifts at the food outlet alongside another worker who tested positive.

Authorities assumed the man, who wasn’t named, had caught the virus during a very short exposure, leading them to believe the strain must be highly contagious.

The federal government has confirmed it purchased 9.5 million KN95 respirators that failed to meet Government of Canada technical specifications.

One meme sent by the actor reads 'Breaking news, Democratic government leaders now recommends [sic] we all wear blindfolds along with masks so we can't see what's really going on'.

As the number of COVID-19 cases passes the 300,000-milestone in Canada, and deaths linked to the virus reach more than 11,000 in Canada, medical workers are bracing for a new influx of the sickest patients. They worry the health-care system will be overrun with more work handled by fewer staff.

Nine months into the pandemic, burnout and illness are sidelining medical workers across the country in the midst of the second wave. As provinces and territories wrestle with the second wave of COVID, some are worrying about a “third wave” — a coming crisis or shortage of health-care workers who are too exhausted, too burnt-out or have fallen ill with COVID themselves.

But there is some good news here

Dr. Uke was later transferred to the same hospital as her children before she was discharged, followed by her twins — 116 days after their birth. The twins emerged from the hospital happy and healthy, with the whole family finally coming together in August.

“Coming home was the real healing point for me,” she said. “It’s just a miracle what happened, to come out of this.”

 (Merci)
