The New Saigon II

One can be horrified at the extent of the primeval cruelty of the Taliban but not surprised.

The West has had twenty years to do something about it and didn't.

No one cares about your Pride crosswalks and "diversity":

**

Images of the Taliban cracking down on a protest and bloodied women and children beaten by fighters are contradicting the more moderate image the militant group has been trying to project as it tries to consolidate power in Afghanistan. ...

In one of the graphic images, a woman and a child are seen with blood on their faces, apparently unconscious.

The Taliban terrorist group is carrying out a highly organized door-to-door manhunt for people on their wanted list, according to the head of a nonprofit providing intelligence to the United Nations.

“They have lists of individuals and even within the very first hours of moving into Kabul they began a search of former government employees—especially in intelligence services and the special forces units,” Christian Nellemann, head of the Norwegian Centre for Global Analyses, told the BBC Thursday.

... says the eunuch:

Liberal leader Justin Trudeau said Thursday his government is unlikely to get everyone who has asked Canada for help out of Afghanistan, because of the Taliban’s stranglehold on the country.

Once again, he has to be embarrassed into doing something.

Also - one must understand that Justin (and his voters) simply do not care:

Tens of thousands of Afghan interpreters worked for Canadian, U.S. and other allies during the war in Afghanistan, and many are worried they will be targeted and killed by the Taliban. Sahar says the Canadian government had the opportunity weeks ago to get interpreters out and delivered a very personal and direct message to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his failure to do so.

"If my family get executed or any other family get executed, know that you have their blood on your hands," she said.

"The only person who is going to be responsible for the murder, merciless murder of the interpreters in Afghanistan, that will be only -- and only -- the leader of this country and that's going to be Justin Trudeau."

That's not the lifeless body that was used to unseat Chris Alexander but there it is.

Likely billions of dollars of American weapons and vehicles are now in the hands of the Taliban extremist group after the collapse of the Afghan government and army, with numerous videos and photos surfacing online showing Taliban members seizing the equipment.

A "graveyard of empires"? Not exactly:

In the end, Alexander did form a Greek kingdom in the region.

The Khwarezmian Empire collapsed, and the Mongols put several cities — including the one where Genghis Khan’s grandson died — to the sword, killing everyone within.

And, Islam did eventually take root in Afghanistan, even if it took a few centuries.

The only time Afghanistan actually undid an empire was in 1722, when Mahmud Hotak, a Ghilji Pashtun leader, seized Isfahan, the capital of the Persian Safavid dynasty, and declared himself shah. Also under attack from Russia’s Peter the Great, the empire collapsed and never regained its former glory.

See - the Russians DID succeed.
