It Was All Very Necessary

The trampling of people under the hooves of police horses, striking them repeatedly with batons, smashing windows, kneeing downed men, arresting people and freezing the bank accounts of waitresses, retirees and truckers alike was done in order to bring back calm to the capital city of Ottawa:

A person is in custody after reports from several witnesses in downtown Ottawa saying there is a man with a gun at the Rideau Centre on Tuesday.

Although authorities confirmed an arrest, they have yet to say what charges were made.

(Sidebar: just say that he is Tamara Lich and deny him bail.)

Oh, dear:

Also - that didn't age well:

Rideau Street is now open at Sussex Drive but closed westbound at Dalhousie Street, Ottawa police said. Mackenzie Avenue southbound, Sussex Drive northbound and Colonel By Drive were open to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

“Businesses should feel safe to reopen if they had closed during this unlawful assembly,” Ottawa police said.
