Not Done

No, the more stoic among us are not through with this popular movement because - as even the turncoat, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, has pointed out - "The world’s done with it, so let’s just move forward.”:

The Canada Border Services Agency says traffic is moving again south of Vancouver at the Pacific Highway border, while more protesters were arrested Monday night.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Vanessa Munn said starting at about 8:30 p.m., police arrested 12 protesters, bringing the total number of arrests to 16 since Sunday.

Investigations into unlawful activity that is alleged to have occurred on Saturday during the blockade continue, police said.

Protesting in Canada is illegal.

But don't take my word for it.

At Emerson, Manitoba, the main border post remained closed, with commercial traffic to the U.S. blocked by semi-trailers and farm equipment driven there by people opposed to Covid-19 vaccine rules, the Canada Border Services Agency said Tuesday. It was the sixth day that all but emergency vehicles have been prevented from travelling over the border to Pembina North Dakota.

The Emerson blockade consisted on Monday of about 75 vehicles parked on the northbound and southbound lanes. Tractors outfitted with “no more mandate” signs were flanked by pickup trucks with Canadian flags. About six semi trailers were part of the convoy; campers dotted parts of the highway. Some of the protesters have been there for days.

If police try to break up the protests, said Gary Baarda, a 52-year-old retired dairy farmer, “we will go arm-in-arm. They can remove us or shoot at us. We will not be violent.”

Premier Heather Stefanson says Manitoba is accelerating its plan to ease COVID-19 restrictions and expects to have all public health orders lifted in the coming weeks.

"Manitobans have put their lives on hold and it's time that we give them their lives back," Stefanson said Friday.

The "science" changed because trucks showed up.

The federal government will announce changes to pandemic measures at Canada’s borders next week, Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos signalled Friday, while Canada’s chief public health officer said the country is looking to more sustainable plans to manage COVID-19.

I simply don't believe a single thing he says.

Vaccinated travellers will no longer need a molecular COVID-19 test to enter Canada starting Feb. 28 because the COVID-19 situation in Canada has improved, the federal health minister announced Tuesday.

France mobilized thousands of police in and around Paris and set up checkpoints at toll stations on Friday to keep out convoys of motorists converging on the capital for a protest against government COVID-19 curbs.

Inspired by horn-blaring “Freedom Convoy” demonstrations in Canada, the motorists—from numerous cities across France—were expected to gather outside Paris later on Friday and seek to defy a police order not to enter the city.

“We’ve been going around in circles for three years,” said pensioner Jean-Marie Azais, part of a “Convoie de Liberté” headed to the capital from the southwest, in reference to France’s anti-COVID strategy.

“We saw the Canadians and said to ourselves, ‘It’s awesome, what they’re doing.’ In eight days, boom, something was sparked.”
