The father and brother of Aqsa Parvez have been charged with first-degree murder, a murder the police suggest was premeditated.
Aqsa Parvez was a sixteen year old girl strangled by her father.
Given that so-called honour killings are common in Islamic societies and the need for some in the West to brush over such incidences, it is not, therefore, surprising that a story like this will be downplayed.
The article at the beggining of this post refers to the motive as "an apparent clash of Muslim and Western cultures". That may be as honour killings in Western societies are practically non-existent. But even the euphemistically put "clash" still doesn't absolve what is inherent in cultures which practice this kind of killing. Honour killings are a part of Muslim culture. Will we who live in a "multicultural mosaic" accept this? What choice do we have? If we don't, we are imposing our values on a culture that deems it acceptable for a male family member to kill a female family member over any slight imaginable. Surely the Crown doesn't want to get involved in how a family disciplines its children, the way someone in Quebec did. Furthermore, our soft-serve racism that is multiculturalism is at stake. We can't call ourselves "multicultural" (all the while being woefully ignorant of other cultures) if we don't pat "lesser" cultures on the head, turn away, shrug our shoulders and mumble: "That's how they do it back home."
The true test of a culture is not on "some foreigner" but on citizens whose moral compass indicates the wrongness of willful murder.
I would comment on a completely unimportant minority in Toronto but I've decided to comment on researchers on the cusp of an enormous discovery. You know- people who truly deserve attention. I say good luck to these people.

Perhaps the Ontario justice system has redeemed itself (just a bit), for allowing Karla Holmolka to go free.
As for the Quebec story...didn't hear about that one. Ridiculous ruling in my opinion.
Australian Muslims are currently fighting for the right for the legalization of polygamy. Their argument? "Well, you let the gays have what they want, why not us?" And they are right.
In America, universities have installed foot baths on campus for Muslims to wash their feet before prayers, and at a major Mall (Tysons Corner--very upscale) in Virginia a handful of Muslim women argued to the building superintendent that they had nowhere to pray while they are shopping and that if the mall doesn't do something about it they will lose shoppers/revenue. So, the mall is installing a prayer room. In the mall. For Muslims. At the mall's expense. A notice was issued by the mall asking them to be respectful of the public restrooms and not wash their feet in the sink. Do you think the muslims will abide by the filthy kaffir's rules? And all around America Christian and other religious symbols are being removed from university chapels so as not to "offend" Muslims.
In China last year, the year of the pig, the Chinese government announced they were cutting back on pig images out of respect for the Muslim community. And how many Muslims do you think are in China and why do they all of a sudden care about pig images in a country that has existed fro thousands of years?
In the UK banks have stopped using the "piggy bank" image in their ads. You guessed it...because it was offending Muslims.
In the UK this year, a bus driver pulled over and made his passengers get off so that he could roll out his prayer mat and pray. See, he had been so busy on the job that he hadn't been able to take his allotted break time. So he felt well within his rights (as a MUSLIM, not as an employee of the bus company) to throw the dirty kaffir off the bus so he could do his religious duty. Was he fired? Of course not.
In the UK Muslims are asking that Sharia law be allowed in certain circumstances to co-exist side-by-side with British law. As insanse as this sounds it didn't stop the Archbishop of Canterbury from publicly agreeing with them. So far they haven't gotten their way on this. Yet.
Also in the UK a sudden epidemic of crimes committed by teenage "Asian" youth. Asian is now the PC catch-phrase for "Muslim". In the case of one white woman in the UK who was raped (there are numerous cases like this) by 5 Muslim men, the ring-leader told her--while he was raping her--that they were doing this to her because she was white.
The Koran teaches that non-Muslims are lower than animals ("apes and pigs" is the way it's written) and that Muslim men are free to do what they like to non-Muslim women, especially raping them. This is how a Muslim man lets an infidel woman know who's the boss.
And in Sweden there were 3,500 rapes against white women in the year 2007 alone. These rapes occurred in areas of the country heavily populized by Muslim immigrants. Let that number just sink into your brain for a minute: 3,500. In one year.
The list could go on and on. When will the West wake up?? Muslims don't want to co-exist with us, period. They believe that the whole world is for Islam and they won't settle for less.
