Canada will stop incoming flights from the U.K. for 72 hours to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus strain, according to a statement from Health Canada.
The policy will come into effect at 12:01 am Monday for all commercial and private passenger flights.
The Prime Minister has warned the new variant of coronavirus may be up to 70 per cent more transmissible than previous strains and could overwhelm the NHS.
But last night one scientist demanded greater transparency over the number that shut down swathes of the UK.
Carl Heneghan, Professor of Evidence Based Medicine at Oxford University's Nuffield Department of Primary Care, expressed scepticism over the 70 per cent figure.
He said: 'I've been doing this job for 25 years and I can tell you can't establish a quantifiable number in such a short time frame.'
He added 'every expert is saying it's too early to draw such an inference'.
Never once did this pusillanimous little sh-- even think of stopping all flights from China coming into Canada.
In late January, a dogged group of MPs from all the major federal parties, led by Edmonton MP Matt Jeneroux, started to dig into Canada’s iffy border measures, which consisted mainly of checking passengers from Wuhan and Hubei province for viral symptoms and giving them information.
At the time, one preoccupation of Tam and the Trudeau government was that southeast Asians not be stigmatized by this outbreak. At a parliamentary health committee meeting on Jan. 29, Tam linked not stigmatizing people to not quarantining travellers from Hubei. And a Feb. 2 statement on COVID-19 from the PMO said: “The Prime Minister… celebrated the Lunar New Year with Chinese Canadians (in Toronto) and again underlined the importance of Canadians’ support for each other, and of combatting fear, stigma, and racism.”
(Sidebar: ... says PM Blackface.)
But the question at hand, sir, which country's government does the Liberal Party's candidate for prime minister in 2015 most admire?
Trudeau's answer: "You know, there's a level of of admiration I actually have for China ..."
