Mid-Week Post

In the middle is you...

A man is arrested for attempting to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank in New York.

Well, this is awkward:

Debate moderator Candy Crowley admitted on CNN's Debate Night in America that Governor Romney was “right in the main” but “picked the wrong word” on the Obama administration’s immediate response to the terrorist attack in Benghazi that left four Americans dead....

Well, you know again I heard the president's speech at the time. I sort of re-read a lot of stuff about Libya, I knew we'd probably get a Libya question, so I wanted to kind of be up on it. So we knew that the president had said these acts of terror won't stand or whatever the whole quote was. And I think actually, because right after that, I did turn around and say you were totally correct. They spent two weeks telling us this was about a tape, and you know this riot outside the Benghazi consulate, which there wasn't. So he was right in the main, I just think he picked the wrong word. You know, they're going to parse and we know about what the definition of 'is' is, but you know in the end, I think John's probably right. I think there is a lot more to do with jobs and the debt crisis, and all of that kind of stuff.

Yes, you probably should have shut up, Candy.

Occupests (TM-BCF) ruin Halloween for everyone:

Trinity Church is cancelling its annual Halloween celebration.

A post on the church’s website says the “decision was made out of an abundance of caution as we continue to face safety issues arising from the sidewalk camp in front of Trinity Church.”

A group called “Occupy Trinity Wall Street Church” – which labels itself as “An action of Occupy Wall Street” – set up a makeshift camp on the sidewalk in front of the church.

Last December, Trinity Church told Occupy protesters evicted from Zuccotti Park they couldn’t stay at Duarte Square, which is owned by Trinity Church. The NYPD said 49 Occupy protesters were arrested attempting to scale a chain-link fence or crawl under it in order to gain access to the property.

“They broke into the Duarte property. We said ‘no.’ They’re just angry about it, I guess,” Linda Hanick of Trinity Church told CBSNewYork.com.

The camp started in front of the church in June.

Oh, I hope not:

A new American court ruling in favour of Osama bin Laden's driver has cast doubt on the validity of Omar Khadr's war crimes convictions, legal experts said Wednesday.

Even so, they said, several factors make it essentially impossible for Khadr to have his convictions before a military commission in Guantanamo Bay set aside.

Those factors include his guilty pleas, his waiver of his appeal rights, and the murky legal nature of his most serious crime: murder in violation of the law of war.

However, the ruling could potentially help him win parole in Canada.

It's bad enough that this unrepentant murderer and terrorist (and his family) are allowed to remain in Canada and never be charged with treason but for him to walk because of yet another American-made screw job would be unfathomable.

I thought Bill 13 was about tackling bullying for one group only. Don't you read the bills, Miss Broten, or is that misogynist?

This is why we should have been afraid to get back in the water:

It's official: A giant, marine reptile that roamed the seas roughly 150 million years ago is a new species, researchers say. The animal, now named Pliosaurus funkei, spanned about 40 feet (12 meters) and had a massive 6.5-foot-long (2 m) skull with a bite four times as powerful as Tyrannosaurus rex.

Now that's a gun!

And now, cats and physics. Enjoy.

(With thanks to all)
