Today In COVID Screw-Ups News

Remember, this two week year long battle to contain the virus China spread around the world needs your unquestioning commitment to change on a dime.

So behave!:

The federal New Democrats and Liberals made mirror pledges on Monday to criminalize protesters that block hospitals or harass health-care workers as party leaders denounced planned demonstrations at hospitals nationwide.

No one has been denied service from a protester but they are going without doctors' visits, cancer treatment and surgeries.

I thought only Harper did that:

In a recent story, the Canadian Medical Association Journal alleged that the Liberals have been muzzling access to government scientists throughout the course of Election 44. The journal said that interview requests with both Chief Public Health Officer Theresa Tam and NACI Chair Dr. Shelley Deeks – two key figures in setting Canadian COVID-19 policy – were rejected “in light of the election.”

Canadians are so stupid that Americans can sway them with as little as a placard (according to the well-compensated press):

As a pediatrician, vaccine-scientist and parent of an adult daughter with autism and intellectual disabilities, I have had a front-row seat to America’s anti-vaccine movement for the last two decades. I’m also a lead target, and sometimes known as the ‘OG Villain’ for writing the book, Vaccines Did Not Cause Rachel’s Autism a few years back. ...

(Sidebar: Dr. Stupid, those opposing these experimental shots are not opposed to vaccines. If you had bothered asking them before you wrote this tripe, well, you would have to stop writing as you would have no leg to stand on.)

Today, the anti-vaccine movement has three major drivers. One of them is anti-science aggression from the far-right, as highlighted above. However, there are also at least a dozen non-governmental groups identified by the Centre for Countering Digital Hate as responsible for approximately two-thirds of the anti-vaccine disinformation in America.

The third is Russian propaganda, which promotes anti-vaccine disinformation as a means to destabilize the U.S. and other democratic countries, possibly including Canada. ...

(Sidebar: aaahh, the Red Peril. Except that Russian president Vladimir Putin hasn't banned the so-called vaccines.)

I don’t have a good sense of what’s driving anti-vaccine sentiments in Canada, and whether they are similarly linked to health freedom or far-right leanings. But it worries me, especially given what has happened in the U.S. where anti-vaccine expressions are often accompanied by vile Nazi imagery, and authoritarian attitudes. This type of anti-science aggression even extends to targeting prominent U.S. scientists and seeks to delegitimize our expertise.

Well, that's nice.

You can prove this, of course, right, Dr. Stupid?

Dr. Hotez did not provide any evidence of this American squirreling of the Canadian public. Not simply because there is no such proof but that the purpose of his screed is mischaracterise and misinform. If he was honest and admitted that Canadians were hesitant to have an experimental flu shot injected in their bodies due to the rising cases of side-effects and even more worried about the intrusive and fascist passports which even the appointed public health experts (a title I use very loosely here) doubt will stop the spread of a virus everyone swore would be dealt with in two weeks.

The "experts" have been anything but forthright with the public.

If Dr. Hotez is worried that the public will turn away from the field of medicine, he should wonder why he put out this article at all.

Also - were these guys swayed by the Russians or the Americans, too?:

Canadian police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other First Responders silently protested in Toronto’s Queen’s Park Monday in opposition to the government’s vaccine mandates amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

What deal will be made, I wonder?

And - England dropped its vaccine passport mandate for now. No doubt due to Russo-American right-wing influence.

Or something.

I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned with:

Chinese biopharma firm Everest Medicines Ltd. will license an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine from Canada’s Providence Therapeutics Holdings Inc., as companies try to bring the most effective inoculation platform into China despite its apparent resistance to western shots.

But ... the Narrative!:

Remember - it's a system that officially can't fail. No matter how many surgeries are needed.

It looks like the Supreme Court has spoken:

I'm sure it will speak again.

Why, that doesn't sound strange at all:

Of the 27 scientists who wrote a letter in The Lancet medical journal dismissing the possibility that Covid-19 originated from a Wuhan lab, 26 have links to its Chinese researchers, their colleagues or its benefactors, a new investigation has revealed.

But I thought that this vaccine was effective:

Israel is making preparations to ensure it has sufficient vaccine supply in case a fourth round of Covid-19 shots is needed, the country’s top health official said on Sunday.

That pesky immunity thing:

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a top U.S. public health official, said that a new study regarding so-called natural immunity following COVID-19 infection is provoking discussion among government experts.

The real-world study, conducted by Israeli researchers, found that previous COVID-19 infection confers better protection against infection and hospitalization than COVID-19 vaccines.

Because the first batches worked so well for adults:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky says the federal health agency is working quickly on a COVID-19 vaccine for younger children between the ages of 5 and 11.

Why, if this virus is so deadly, would you compromise?:

But not included in the executive orders are mandates for members of federal employees in the legislative or judicial branches, including members of Congress, their staffers, as well as federal judges and other court employees.

Earlier in the year, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was asked about requiring that members of Congress be vaccinated.

“Public health officials are encouraging wearing masks indoors,” Pelosi began.

She continued: “So here’s the thing—we cannot require someone to be vaccinated. It’s just not what we can do.”

But you just did.

So ... ?

Do remember that religious exemptions are allowed for many things with little fuss:

Seventeen medical health professionals had asked the court to enjoin enforcement of New York’s mandate that then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Aug. 16. The mandate required staff at hospitals and long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, adult care facilities, and other congregate care settings, be vaccinated for COVID-19 to continue to be employed.

The plaintiffs, including doctors, nurses, a medical technician, and a physician’s liaison, were facing termination, loss of hospital admitting privileges, and the destruction of their careers unless they consent to be vaccinated with vaccines in contradiction of their religious beliefs, the lawsuit argued.

Their religious beliefs compelled the plaintiffs “to refuse vaccination with the available COVID-19 vaccines, all of which employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development, or production,” according to court documents.

She said the quiet part loud:

Dr. Kerry Grant, New South Wales chief medical officer, on Thursday was asked by a journalist whether contact tracing would be implemented once “we reopen”, to which she responded: “We will be looking at what contract-tracing looks like in the new world order – yes it will be pubs and clubs, and other things, if we have a positive case there [but] our response may be different if we know people are fully vaccinated.”
