Because "Transparency"

There is no liar like a political one:

The Liberal government billed taxpayers $39 million for private contractors to black out access to information documents requested by the public.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, several companies received millions for the censorship work.

An Inquiry of Ministry requested by Conservative MP Kelly McCauley shows “contracts provided to consultants related to the processing of requests made under the Access To Information Act since January 1, 2020.”

The contracts ranged from $15,000 to nearly $200,000 in paid work.

“Each file is different based on the complexity and the volume of pages,” wrote staff.

“Some consultants have other functions including file review and providing technical advice.”

Government caucus members on the House of Commons transport committee yesterday blocked disclosure of scientific data justifying on-and-off COVID-19 travel restrictions. “It’s not filibustering, it’s making a point,” said Liberal MP Vance Badawey (Niagara Centre, Ont.).

(Sidebar: the point being that you are a liar.)

The options laid before the special parliamentary committee are twofold: Mendacious Marco or Misunderstood Minister Mendicino?

Either the minister of public safety lied — repeatedly, robustly, resolutely — to Parliament, to Canadians, to his barber, butcher, baker and candlestick maker, or he was singularly, spectacularly, stunningly unable to make himself understood. Neither option — mendacity or a massive incapacity to communicate — is a desideratum for a minister of the Crown.
