And Now For Something Completely Different

A feel-good story:

It was late March when Zoe and Guy, their sons Cam and Max, and Pipsqueak the dachshund reached South Carolina’s Hilton Head Island and borders started to close due to the pandemic, forcing them to abandon their trip, pack up what they could from their 40-foot-yacht and fly home.

But Australia’s rules regarding pet imports meant that Pip could not come along.

The Eilbecks scrambled to make arrangements, believing they’d be able to return quickly to reunite with their lovable pup and bring her home. Zoe called her friend Lynn Williams, who ran a farm and agreed to look after Pip for what they imagined would be just six weeks. On March 27, Zoe rented a car and drove the eight hours to North Carolina to leave her precious cargo in her friend’s care. Then she drove back and the family flew home.

“Pip went from living on a sailboat to living on a bison farm,” Zoe told CNN. “That’s something that really tickles me.”
