SEE: Canada, Screw-Up, Coronavirus

We're back ... to being the world's laughing-stock:

The Government of Canada is suing a Montreal company, aiming to recover $81 million it paid up front for millions of protective masks that failed to meet standards.

In a statement of claim filed this week, the government is suing Tango Communication Marketing and its representative Michel Octeau over nearly 40 million masks the government ordered from the company early in the pandemic.

I'll just leave these right here:

The Public Health Agency in a January 29 briefing note advised Canadians traveling in pandemic quarantine zones in China not to wear a mask despite local mandatory mask orders. Dr. Theresa Tam, chief public health officer, for weeks told the public masks were pointless and risky: “You have to be careful you’re not putting your finger in your eye.”

**

A Toronto doctor is warning that a shortage of medical masks in the city could negatively affect the health of patients coming into clinics — as experts continue to try to spread the message that buying the masks won't protect people from COVID-19.

“The stuff was at the airport ready to be shipped,” said Kapur. “We had it on the tarmac. I was hearing on the news about companies bringing in 10,000 masks, 5,000 masks — and we had five million masks coming.

“Then the craziest thing happened.”

Their shipment disappeared at Shanghai airport.

“We never got the shipment onto the airplane,” Chin said. “It turns out we were suddenly outbid.”

When China donated medical supplies to help Canada in battling the coronavirus pandemic, Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne turned to Twitter to thank the country directly.

But after the small island nation of Taiwan did the same, Champagne did not post about the donation on his Twitter account and when pressed to thank the nation directly on Thursday, would not say its name.

The Trudeau Liberals awarded Former Liberal MP Frank Baylis' medical firm a contract for $237 million without calls for bids, and overpaid $10,000 per ventilator.

Two partner companies that aim to develop COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing capacity in Calgary remain hopeful they will receive government support, even as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a deal that will see millions of doses produced in Montreal.

Speaking from Ottawa on Tuesday, Trudeau said the federal government has reached a deal with U.S.-based vaccine company Novavax, which is in the clinical trials phase with its vaccine and has not yet received Health Canada approval. If Health Canada approves it, a new National Research Council facility in Montreal will begin pumping out Novavax doses when the building is finished later this year.

I'm sure these reports aren't exhibits of the Liberals' incompetence and grift.

Not. At. All.

She's not a top doctor because she is good at her job. She was simply installed:

Canada’s chief public health officer reminded Canadians on Saturday that even those who are fully vaccinated remain susceptible to COVID-19.

Then it's pointless,isn't it, Theresa?

Interesting:

A COVID-19 vaccine likely won’t be a requirement to return to the physical classroom at some universities in September, with several large schools saying they have no intention of mandating proof of immunization for students.

Though some schools remain undecided, the decisions from the University of British Columbia, University of Alberta and McGill University come as governments around the world work out how to handle so-called vaccine passports.

Or it's hard to get foreign students to produce these unnecessary documents.
