Senators to Review Censorship Bill

They will vote for censorship soon:

After two acrimonious attempts to get the Liberal government’s online streaming bill through the House of Commons, the Senate is finally about to take its turn with the legislation — including potential amendments to its most controversial provisions.

They’ll get started early, under a deal reached by the various Senate groups. The Senate transport and communications committee will begin meetings before Parliament returns from summer break the week of Sept. 19, with the goal of wrapping up work in November, senators told the National Post. ...

Miville-DechĂȘne said senators first need to hear from stakeholders in committee meetings.

“We need to hear their arguments. And I will in good time decide what I support, what I don’t support,” she said.

Committee chair and Conservative senator Leo Housakos said the committee already has “a long robust list of stakeholders, many in favour and many against the bill, that are lining up to be heard.”

Housakos also didn’t want to discuss specific possible amendments, but said “it’s incumbent on the Senate to present amendments to legislation, particularly legislation that is controversial and does not have unanimity amongst the public, and clearly this piece of legislation has raised a lot of concerns.”

If anyone really cared, this bill would be scrapped in its entirety and never again entertained.
