The End of Meritocracy

Even less worthy than Julia Roberts or George Clooney and less capable than a jock teacher in a secondary school is Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize. His major achievements since taking office have been: nothing.

That's right- nothing.

He inspires peace
.

Iran warns Obama against Bushite talk

The same country Obama wanted to reach out to without pre-conditions warns the Chosen One.

To be fair, Obama was warned by France and Israel- not to trust Iran.

Oh yes- there's also the dwindling economy, the now defunct missile defense system in eastern Europe, the over-reaching and impossible health-care plan and the failed Olympic bid.

This is yet another lesson in meritocracy. It doesn't matter how smart you are or how hard you've worked; you clearly don't deserve to be rewarded for your efforts.

How demoralising it must be for the ones not chosen for this prestigious award:

Sima Samar, women's rights activist in Afghanistan
Ingrid Betancourt, French-Colombian ex-hostage held for six years
Dr. Denis Mukwege, doctor, founder and head of Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo
Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition
Hu Jia, a human rights activist and an outspoken critic of the Chinese government
Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China's communist system

See- we can actually prove these guys did something. Obama- not so.

However, as I believe Hitler is in hell, I also believe that slacking narcissists can't charm everyone forever. People will get tired of you- before 2012.

Can anyone please tell me ONE tangible thing this man has done? You listed some truly heroic people. Let's not forget Benazir Bhutto. What an amazing example! Feminists have failed to acknowledge the real women who fight for freedom for all. She fought bravely to her dying moment.

Bingo.
Sooner or later, people are going to realise how awarding a flavour of the month is ultimately meaningless.
