Sunday Post

What lovely weather we're having!

Wealthy blowhard Donald Trump may be, as Rex Murphy so eloquently put it, "... not the swamp: he is the creature emerging from it..." (after all, the Americans did twice put Obama in charge of what used to be the freest country on the planet) but what does it say about the perpetual attention-getting from an equally perpetually aggrieved mass?

A Muslim woman was kicked out of a Donald Trump presidential campaign rally after staging a silent protest against the Republican frontrunner, who has called for a ban on Muslims entering the US.

Television footage from the event in South Carolina shows the woman, named as Rose Hamid, a 56-year-old flight attendant, wearing a head scarf and loose fitting green shirt reading "Salam. I come in peace." She stood in silence looking at the podium as the rest of the crowd sat.

Later, she was escorted out as Trump supporters wave placards bearing his name in her face and chant for him.

Putting aside that women have no place in the socio-political sphere of Islamist countries save as tools for a paranoid and emotionally retarded herd of misogyny and that this sharmuta cannot possibly appreciate her great fortune at being the star of this stunt, she also does not realise that people like her have finally put the muddled-minded American electorate so far over the edge that someone like Donald Trump seems like a viable candidate. How many terror attacks, rapes and alleged sob stories can people go through before they say to a stunted culture that refuses to acclimatise to the twenty-first century: "ENOUGH!"

And do I have to remind everyone of Ibn Warraq?

I'm sure this is nothing to be concerned about:

Authorities said Thursday that two people with ties to the Islamic State have been arrested on terrorism-related charges in California and Texas, including a refugee from Syria who is charged with lying to federal investigators about his travels to the civil war in that country.

PM Man-Child condemns pepper-spraying of Syrian migrants:

A crowd of refugees attending a welcome event at the Muslim Association of Canada Centre in Vancouver was pepper sprayed by an unknown man on a bicycle.

It happened outside the centre on the Kingsway near Victoria Drive around 10:30 p.m. as the event was winding down and the group of newcomers to Canada was waiting for a bus.

This incident drew condemnation from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.

"This isn't who we are," Trudeau said in a tweet. Robertson, also on Twitter, described the incident as a "disgusting display of hate."

(Sidebar: Liberals and pepper-spraying.... hhmmm...)

What PM Trulander said about Yazidi children run into the desert and girls and women sold as sex slave to ISIS thugs:

“There's a lot of people, refugees, displaced peoples, fleeing violence who are facing a very, very cold winter in the mountains. Something Canada has expertise on is how to face a winter in the mountains with the right kind of equipment,"...

Liberal voters are fine with this. Rapes that happen to brown people aren't as sensational as Slut Walks or mattresses as art.

But I digress...

Obama's over-reaching gun laws and how they may affect Canada:

When U.S. President Barack Obama announced a series of executive actions this week targeting firearms sales his primary goal was to try to make some dent in the numbingly routine gun violence plaguing America.

But some of Obama’s initiatives, done by executive order to get around congressional inflexibility on the issue, potentially could help slow the steady stream of guns smuggled across the Canada-U.S. border.

The parts of his initiative that might be relevant to Canada involve the rules for licensing gun-sellers and tightening of rules requiring background checks of gun buyers.

Handguns smuggled from the eastern seaboard of the United States, funnelled through border crossings in eastern Ontario, have contributed to an increasing number of firearms on Ottawa’s streets, police say.

Well, so much for that plan.

A gargantuan gold-painted statue of Communist China's founding father Mao Zedong has suddenly been demolished, apparently for lacking government approval, state media said Friday, days after images of it went viral.

Trudeau reportedly in tears.

And now, a noble effort:

An Ottawa historian has undertaken a mission to give proper burials to more than 40 Canadian soldiers killed at Vimy Ridge.

Norm Christie, an author and History Television host, says that on April 9, 1917, a unit of the Canadian Scottish regiment attacked across a field in northern France.

During the heat of battle, 44 of the dead were buried in a crater which was marked CA40. They included William Milne of Moose Jaw, Sask., a Victoria Cross winner.

Christie says the dead — including 10 members of the 113th Battalion Lethbridge Highlanders — were supposed to be exhumed and relocated to a nearby cemetery called Nine Elms, but it never happened.

Christie and his supporters are trying to raise money for non-destructive testing to find the exact location of the mass grave, which he suspects is in the middle of a farmer's potato field.

So far, they have raised $22,000 of their goal of $110,000.
