We Don't Have to Trade With China

If I lived in Vancouver, I believe my response would be - "Got to hell!":

The Chinese government is warning the City of Vancouver against forging a special relationship with the Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung, an objection that comes as Beijing steps up efforts to diplomatically isolate and intimidate the self-governing island.

The Chinese consulate in Vancouver this week released a statement criticizing a proposal to designate the southern port city of Kaohsiung as a Vancouver “friendship city,” saying it would consider this to be “official interaction” with Taiwan of the kind Canada was supposed to avoid after it switched diplomatic recognition of China from Taipei to Beijing in 1970.

“We therefore firmly oppose any official ties in any form between the city of Vancouver and cities in the Taiwan region,” the diplomatic mission said.

China doesn't even hide its evil anymore:

Several provinces and cities in China have released official guideline prices for human vital organs, such as livers, kidneys, and hearts. This is one of the actions taken by local governments following a notice issued by central authorities in July on fees and financial management measures for securing organs for transplant.

According to medical experts familiar with China’s organ transplant market, the actions indicate that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is attempting to normalize the country’s less than transparent organ transplant system as it continues to face pressure to disclose its sourcing of transplant organs.

In a July notice, the CCP ordered provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions to set their own rates for human organs effective Sept. 1.

A friend in need:

It would be “inconceivable” for Australia not to join the US should Washington take action to defend Taiwan, Australian Minister of Defence Peter Dutton said yesterday.

Okay, so when will Canada allow Huawei to manage 5G mobile networks?:

Three of Canada’s partners in the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance — the United States, Britain and Australia — have taken decisive steps to curb the use of Huawei gear in their countries’ respective 5G networks.

The federal government acknowledges that the U.S. has strongly encouraged countries to tread carefully on 5G security considerations, noting an American delegation visited Canada in March 2020 to discuss the issue with various ministers and government officials.

The U.S. has made it clear Canada has “got to get on board” if it wants to remain part of the club, said Fen Hampson, a professor of international affairs at Carleton University.
