(Insert Own "Oh, Look! Another Liberal Scandal!" Title Here)

The old guard Liberals must be appalled at the quality (if not the quantity) of the crops of scandals that the lesser generation have sown.

The new guys aren't even good at covering their tracks:

Koutrakis was trying to praise Liberal Minister Bardish Chagger (AKA the designated fall-personkind in the scandal), but accidentally described Chagger’s real role.

She called her the Minister Of Diversion.

100% correct!

See.

And it just gets worse:

Previously, the government told Canadians that the civil service suggested the WE Organization to the cabinet due to the fact that they were the only suitable candidates for the roll.

(Sidebar: yes, about that ... "We Charity was given three days’ advance notice of a lucrative grant to run a federal students’ program, the Department of Employment disclosed yesterday. A manager who made the call admitted she knew Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife Sophie worked with the group. No others were asked to run the program. “The question is whether We got the inside track,” said an MP.")

In reality, there was no competitive bid. The WE organization submitted a proposal to cabinet ministers on April 22, meaning the decision came to award WE this contract came entirely from the government.

Secondly, the proposal submitted by WE was entirely different to the contract the Trudeau government later went on to award them. This means that the government altered their legislation so that it would work for WE.

(Sidebar: please see here.)

As well as this, the WE organization stood to gain $43 million, rather than the $19 million that was previously suggested. It is, so far, unclear why the government previously stated that it was $19 million.

(Sidebar: this amount.)

The nepotism gets worse:

 (Merci)

Because this is Canada and the system is so stacked that there are no checks and balances, no term limits, no resignations and no jail sentences, this scandal amounts to nothing more than an uncomfortable situation for people so stupid that they cannot cover their tracks (if they care to - complacency breeds hubris):

Other countries’ prime ministers occasionally have to work at keeping their jobs. Not so much Canada’s. We look down our noses at Australia’s “leadership spills” as unconscionably chaotic, though they have ushered in a new prime minister a grand total of three times in 30 years. If only we had such chaos, PMs might at least be reminded occasionally they aren’t elected emperor in non-negotiable four-year chunks. Instead many of us blanch even at the idea of minority governance. So unstable!

**
The House of Commons ethics committee has put off to next week a decision on whether to demand records of the Trudeau family’s speaking engagements as part of a probe of how WE Charity was given responsibility for a vast federal volunteer program.

Until people forget about it, you mean.

For now, however, the heat has to come off. The Liberals have a plan for that.

Squirrel!:

The federal government is sending $19 billion to provinces targeted at the areas the Liberal government believes will be essential to a safe restart of Canada’s economy as the country comes out of COVID-19 lockdowns.

Look, Canadians - money!

That will make everyone forget that the Liberals were funnelling taxpayer money to their relatives!

**

How interesting that once a Quebec politician makes some demands, a scandal crops up:

(Sidebar: like another Quebec politician should talk.)

**
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has joined the leaders of Spain, New Zealand, South Korea, Ethiopia and three other countries in calling for equitable access to a coronavirus vaccine when one is developed.

(Sidebar: isn't China working fast enough for you, Justin?)
