When All Else Fails, Rely On Anti-Americanism (Part Deux)

Canadians were forced into the unenviable position of defending Catholics.

But who could miss a chance to superior against the greater of two evils?

Here is why:

The Archdiocese of Toronto — which includes 27 municipalities and stretches well beyond the city’s borders — has implemented a modified version of communion where a priest delivers his blessing from more than two metres away, hands the congregant their wafer, and they then move more than two metres away from the priest before removing their mask and consuming the bread.

No sacramental wine will be served in this adapted version of the Eucharist.

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham attacked presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Twitter Friday, but ended up on the receiving end of criticism herself.

“Will Joe Biden do more to protect religious liberty than Donald Trump? Not a prayer,” Ingraham asked while sharing a post from a conservative blog titled “City of Toronto Bans Catholic Churches From Administering Holy Communion.”

For clarity, here is the article for which Miss Ingraham has received some heat:

On June 20, the city government of Toronto issued revised COVID-19 guidelines that ban the offering of Holy Communion to the faithful.

The new guidelines read:

All places of worship must adhere to the following requirements:
General Guidance
Suspend all communion-related activities as advised by Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health.

The Ontario Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 advice calls for “Suspend[ing] activities that increase risk of disease transmission, including,” “Sharing or distributing materials or objects, which may include but is not limited to: books, communion, microphones, prayer mats, prayer shawls, water, etc.”

The new guidelines also “Suspend indoor singing activities and choir service,” and limit participation in services to no more than 30% of the capacity of the premises.

What the Archdiocese of Toronto says (as of this writing):

What the archdiocese is doing (again, as of this writing):

The priest celebrating Mass is not to wear a mask or disposable gloves during the liturgy with the exception of the distribution of Holy Communion (a mask may be worn if desired). However, he must wash/sanitize his hands before and after Mass and before and after distributing Holy Communion.

Indeed, the only species of the Eucharist -

(Sidebar: can anyone hear the call for fainting couches among the anti-Catholic set?)

- is the Body of Christ which is carefully distributed by a priest with clean hands while parishioners (also with sanitised hands) accept it on the palms of their hands. All of this is done at a distance deemed safe by the same people who refused to believe that China was at fault for the virus in the first place.

Now, I wouldn't call Joe "Bad Touch" Biden a Catholic in good standing but I do know that Laura Ingraham is Catholic (and probably should have reviewed everything before airing the above) and would be familiar with how the Eucharist is distributed and why.

Would any of Miss Ingraham's Canadian detractors like to ask Justin why he didn't go to Easter Mass, which he is obligated to attend? No?

Sneering like that makes your face stay that way, anti-Americans.

But at least Miss Ingraham knows that China, which owns Canada now, can't be trusted:

Haven't you anything to say, O Ye of Little Magnanimity?  Or did China shut you up?

Also:
After Gidley claimed that life for Americans is “absolutely” better than before, Keilar remarked that “even Canada won’t let us in.”

Gidley replied, “I’m not sure why you would want to go to Canada when we live in the greatest country on the face of the planet, that’s Donald Trump’s mentality on it.”

“Well if you want to get away from coronavirus you might,” Keilar responded.

That's adorable, b!#ch:

CNN ... can't it get anything right?

More than eight in 10 Canadians surveyed in a new Ipsos poll said they want to keep the U.S.-Canada border closed till at least the end of 2020.

Good move cutting off one's major trading partner.

What could go wrong?
