Yep:
Liberals will debate proposals to create a network of high-speed rail lines across Canada, a green new deal for the country and a universal basic income at the party’s virtual convention this week.
Does anyone really think that the Trudeau government (owned by China) will deliver an antiquated mode of travel, a cross-country high-speed railway on-time, under-budget and over-performing?
I didn't think so.
CN and Via Rail have seen losses of business due to economic shutdowns, thugs the police won't deal with and the preference to travel by private car or by air.
Japan and South Korea's inter-city and cross-country railways work primarily due to population, engineering capabilities and the will to achieve the goal in a short amount of time.
Canada has none of those things.
Any attempt to undertake that project will amount to what Canadians are already familiar with: huge expenses, huge wait times, corruption (oh, hi, SNC-Lavalin) and unfinished projects.
