France was invaded by Nazi Germany on May 10th, 1940 and completely fell by June. Rather than sign an armistice, then-prime minster Paul Reynaud resigned, leaving Philippe Petain to assume power of France as the head of the Vichy government, one some believe was a puppet-state of Nazi Germany while others hold the belief that the Nazis merely vaulted wicked men into power.
In 2015, Canadians did the same thing:
Motion Text
That:
(a) the House remind the government that a general election was held in October 2019 and sadly note that more than 1.3 million Canadians, including almost 360,000 Quebecers, have been infected with COVID-19 and that nearly 25,000 people have died as a result; and
(b) in the opinion of the House, holding an election during a pandemic would be irresponsible, and that it is the responsibility of the government to make every effort to ensure that voters are not called to the polls as long as this pandemic continues.

I think we all know the real reason why:
**
Chinese authorities have been “exporting their authoritarianism overseas” by infiltrating democratic institutions in Canada and elsewhere as a way to stifle criticism of the Communist state, one expert told parliamentarians on Monday. In testimony before the House of Commons special committee on Canada-China relations, Cherie Wong, executive director of Alliance Canada Hong Kong, warned about extensive efforts by the Communist Party of China in recent years to sway public opinion and deflect criticism, even in foreign countries.

Cabinet yesterday said nearly $34 million in federal contracts were awarded to a consultant that once hosted a VIP retreat near a Chinese internment camp. The disclosure follow a Commons vote condemning China for crimes against humanity: “I am thinking of the million people detained in camps that the Chinese call re-education centres.”
(Sidebar: and what human rights abuses would those be? The famine that Justin's dad ignored? The murder of Chinese intellectuals? The camps? The annexing of Tibet? The rape of North Korean women? The forced repatriation of North Korean defectors? The organ harvesting? The massacre at Tienanmen Square? The virus that crippled the world? Those atrocities?)
This time, there is no Churchill and no American army to right anything.
Also:
But, this latest motion coming to Queen's Park on Monday has some residents and local politicians concerned, as it is asking that these powers be extended all the way through December 1.
