People hate the truth for the sake of whatever it is they love more than the truth. They love the truth when it shines warmly on them, and hate it when it rebukes them.

Because context so SO important:
Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole says he wants Ontario MP Derek Sloan kicked out of the party caucus over a donation to his leadership campaign from a white supremacist.
O’Toole says his former leadership rival’s acceptance of the contribution is “far worse than a gross error of judgment or failure of due diligence.” ...
Sloan says when he learned about the donation this afternoon, he contacted the Conservative party and asked that Fromm’s money be returned.

Who is Paul Fromm? Until last night, I — and probably 98 per cent of Canada — had never heard of the guy. Turns out that he’s a particularly loathsome white supremacist.
The hit piece was complete with lots of colourful pictures of Fromm doing his best impression of a Nuremberg rally. The intention was clearly to link Fromm with Sloan.
O’Toole tweeted furiously.
“Derek Sloan’s acceptance of a donation from a well-known white supremacist is far worse than a gross error of judgment or failure of due diligence,”
Conservative MPs tell me that they all learned about it in the press.
How very strange.
Let one not forget who funds who in this plutocracy we call Canada.
But I digress ...
As seen above, there is no evidence that Derek Sloan is a bigot, a spiteful man or lax in his judgment.
The donation, under the pseudonym of Frederick P. Fromm, went under the loose radar of the Tory vetters and was returned forthwith.
But the real controversy is the desperation Erin O'Toole has to remove Derek Sloan from his ranks just so that Justin will approve of him.
(Sidebar: what a sad b@$#@rd one has to be to get a Chinese-backed snowboard instructor to like him.)
At no point did O'Toole contact or confront Sloan and demand the truth.
He certainly did not waste any time engaging in the slander against Sloan and moving at Justin's behest.
Some believe that this affair was somehow an internal affair.
What this ultimately does is this: it proves O'Toole's weakness as a leader and moral failure as a human being by not determining was fact or fiction or supporting a member if his party; it proves that O'Toole is unwilling to conduct any sort of preliminary investigation into the matter; it proves how easily he is baited by the village idiot (like Scheer was) instead of remaining on point and reminding the public that this ruse is nothing more than a retreaded distraction from a floundering and corrupt party; that O'Toole is envious, self-conscious and cowardly, so much so that he would remove anyone with an iota of charisma; that the Tories are willing to fail to boost the chances of a corrupt political party and keep it in power.
Well done, MP Girl Name. I hope that your disloyalty and idiocy gives rise to the independent candidate and those candidates clean the floor with you.
