Today in "We're Entitled to Our Entitlements, So Shut Up, You Filthy Peasants!" News

One gets the government one votes for:

We all experience things differently.”

That was one of the lines included in the resignation letter written by Gov. Gen. Julie Payette, who stepped down from her viceregal role Thursday following the completion of an independent workplace review that has been described as a “scathing” indictment of her “toxic” behaviour toward staff.

This Julie Payette:

(Sidebar: and burn, Groper.)

Payette has never been a friend to taxpayers, racking up $65,000 in flights, meals and other expenses in her first year-and-a-half in office – more than 50 times than her predecessor spent in the same time span. Her swearing-in ceremony cost taxpayers a whopping $649,000.

Those bills are bad enough, but it gets worse: Payette’s departure doesn’t mean taxpayers are off the hook. Incredibly, the job she just left comes with an expense account so generous that you get to keep it even after you’ve left the job. She can keep submitting receipts for expenses such as staff salaries and travel bills for decades to come.

Julie Payette submitted her resignation as Governor General on Thursday, but despite leaving early due to a workplace scandal she’ll still qualify for a lifetime pension of at least $149,484 per year.

The lifetime annuity is set out in legislation called the Governor General’s Act and it applies to anyone who has held the office, regardless of how they leave it. It rises slowly over time, currently standing at $149,484.

Not that Justin feels a need to apologise for yet another gross error

He never does:

It took Father de Souza to note the startling but — having it drawn to one’s attention — the obvious consideration that “Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s self-admitted and significant failures in judgment have led to a series of resignations possibly without precedent in the entire history of Westminster parliamentary democracies.”

Like this one:

Brampton Centre MP Ramesh Sangha has been removed from the Liberal caucus after he allegedly made “baseless and dangerous” accusations against fellow Liberal MPs.

In a statement, Chief Government Whip Mark Holland says Sangha was removed from caucus Monday afternoon, shortly after the accusations were made. ...

The statement does not state who Sangha accused or what the accusations were, but Holland claims the Sangha was peddling “conspiracy theories.”

“As we have made clear time and time again, we will not tolerate conspiracy theories, or dangerous and unfounded rhetoric about Parliamentarians or other Canadians,” he wrote.

“Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for many Canadians to experience suspicions because of their background; we all know where this can lead.”

A couple of days earlier, Sangha reportedly accused outgoing Industry Minister Navdeep Bains of supporting the Khalistani movement.

Oh, the Liberals say that about everybody!
