Thursday Post

Stuff doing.

It's just a cornucopia of idiocy, malice and filth:

Fire officials are warning campers at the Occupy Vancouver site to stop using open flames and propane tanks in order to prevent a potentially deadly situation.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service Capt. Gabe Roder says occupants have ignored an earlier order by the fire chief, who banned fuels of any kind at the downtown camp.

He says an order will also be issued Friday for occupants to remove all tarp enclosures and unoccupied tents and space out tents to eliminate or reduce the chance of fire spreading between them.

The move came after fire crews and paramedics had trouble getting into the site to treat a man suffering a drug overdose Thursday.

The man survived because a medic was on duty at the camp, where protesters also tried to bar the media and ended up scuffling with reporters trying to cover the incident.

Roder says emergency personnel discovered two propane tanks in the enclosed area and it would have been difficult for firefighters to perform rescue duties if there had been a fire.

"Occupy.." sites aren't just full of total misfits. Sexual assaults occur and there exists an unwillingness to tackle those crimes in any meaningful way (READ: at all). Theft is a common occurrence. The "generous spirit" of the "occupiers" dries up when they "feel exploited". Filth and rats are everywhere. The media is barred from filming or asking questions.

After a good snowfall, when these "occupiers" head to their warm homes, they will still declare a victory.

There is no victory in being dirtbags.

This should have been done before:

The Philippines said Wednesday it had banned Filipinos from travelling to work in 41 countries and territories that had allegedly failed to provide enough safeguards to protect them from abuse.

The Department of Labour and Employment in a board resolution posted on its website said the blacklisted countries failed to sign international conventions protecting foreign workers.

Neither have these countries signed agreements with the Philippines "on the protection of the rights of overseas Filipino workers," the resolution said.

They also do not have their own laws protecting foreign workers, it added.

Included in the list were strife-torn countries such as Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Sudan, Chad and Pakistan.

It would have been cheaper to walk away from the Greek train wreck in the first place:

The prospect of Greece leaving the eurozone and messily defaulting on its massive debts has global implications, even though the moribund Greek economy accounts for less than two per cent of the eurozone's output.

When Clifford Olson was entitled to the federal old age pension while in prison, it makes you shake your head at this:

An Ontario inmate who is seven months pregnant says she has been put into a small, cold cell with a diet of bread and water after refusing to undergo an “early induction” that would put her child’s life and health at risk.

Eva Donna Akinyi Okello was sentenced to eight months prison in September for practicing as a nurse illegally.  She had served as a nurse in Kenya before she moved to Canada ten years ago.

In an interview with LifeSiteNews reporter Alissa Golob on Tuesday, Okello said a female doctor at the Vanier Centre for Women in Milton has put her into segregation after Okello refused the doctor’s urgings that she undergo an “early induction” of her child, who is due December 15th.

After her conviction, Okello was first sent to a correctional facility in Hamilton, but was then moved to Vanier to accommodate her pregnancy.

When Okello arrived at Vanier she was seen by the female doctor, a European in her fifties, who told her life in prison and afterwards would be better if she underwent the procedure.

But Okello, who is a Catholic, repeatedly refused.  According to her, the doctor said she could not “care less” what she did, but then had her sent to segregation, where she was put into a small, cold cell and only given bread and cold water.

Okello told Golob that about five days after she was originally sent to segregation, an elderly male doctor came upon her and asked her why she was in segregation. He said she did not belong there, and had her put back in the regular cell with the other inmates.

There Okello said she was able to receive the special “pregnancy” diet - the same meal as the others except with a bit extra, such as an orange or apple that she could take back to her cell and eat later.

Then a few days after that, Okello was called back to see the original female doctor, who again urged her to undergo the “early induction.”

Okello refused and so on Friday, October 28th was sent back into segregation, where she remains today.  According to Okello, the female doctor says she will remain there until she has her baby, for “safety” reasons.

But Okello says all the other female inmates have been very supportive, and have encouraged her to stand her ground against the doctor.  On the other hand, in segregation she says she is malnourished, cold, and treated poorly.

Is the female doctor a product of white liberalism and privilege or just your run-of-the-mill cow? You decide.

Read this entire indefensible bit of palliation and wonder why in this day and age one still has to spell out how important it is make defiance a cardinal virtue:

Okay, so can we finally stop with the idiotic, divisive, and destructive efforts by “majority sections” of Western nations to bait Muslim members with petulant, futile demonstrations that “they” aren't going to tell “us” what can and can't be done in free societies? Because not only are such Islamophobic antics futile and childish, but they also openly beg for the very violent responses from extremists their authors claim to proudly defy in the name of common good. What common good is served by creating more division and anger, and by tempting belligerent reaction?

Does this guy think things he doesn't write?

The fire bombing of a satirical newspaper in France is a part of litany of violence from a religion that dare not be named lest someone get the shorts in a twinge or some gelatinous pundit breathlessly decries the unfairness of a religion they don't understand. The perpetually angry and aggrieved will never be sated. There is no reasoning with people who think throwing acid, exploding bombs or murder are rational responses to offending stimuli (which, one should gather, is practically anything). The cowardice would be a little less cringe-worthy had Mr. Crumley just outright admitted his fear of harm at the hands of people he admits in his opening paragraph are dangerous but that he defends this terrorism on principle with this ridiculous article is just teeth-grinding:

We, by contrast, have another reaction to the firebombing: Sorry for your loss, Charlie, and there's no justification of such an illegitimate response to your current edition. But do you still think the price you paid for printing an offensive, shameful, and singularly humor-deficient parody on the logic of “because we can” was so worthwhile? If so, good luck with those charcoal drawings your pages will now be featuring.....

It's obvious free societies cannot simply give in to hysterical demands made by members of any beyond-the-pale group. And it's just as clear that intimidation and violence must be condemned and combated for whatever reason they're committed—especially if their goal is to undermine freedoms and liberties of open societies. But it's just evident members of those same free societies have to exercise a minimum of intelligence, calculation, civility and decency in practicing their rights and liberties—and that isn't happening when a newspaper decides to mock an entire faith on the logic that it can claim to make a politically noble statement by gratuitously pissing people off.

Trust me- this guy wouldn't be making this ridiculous assertions had it been anything else other the religion that dare not be named:

But that seems more self-indulgent and willfully injurious when it amounts to defending the right to scream “fire” in an increasingly over-heated theater.

That's no answer, Mr. Crumley, and you damn well know it.

What an ignorant comment to make on his part! Even if people are stupid, obnoxious and exert their efforts toward the fatuous (the way Mr. Crumley does), there can be no defense of this from someone whose opinion would never find root anywhere else but the West.

Sadly, this will be said again and again because the bloody obvious still has dawned on them.

(hat tip)

Is a Kirk fight awesome or awesomely bad? You decide.

The musical "The Book Of Moromon" wins nine Tonys with no violent reprisal.

A sixth century, war mongering, pedophile is named editor-in-chief and the publication is fire bombed.

The difference is clear.

I just wish someone could see this very clear difference.
