Mid-Week Post

The crude, patriarchal, bourgeois feast of Halloween is over.

Or something.

For normal people, Halloween has finished and now we prepare for winter.

Of course he is upset. You called him out on being a heathen. That's embarrassing for some people (except his Nazi-supporting father):

Liberal MP Justin Trudeau says he is upset and offended by a Tory MP who publicly questioned his adherence to the Catholic faith and his suitability to speak to students at a Catholic school.

Dean Del Mastro, the parliamentary secretary to the prime minister, said on Facebook last month that it was "outrageous" the Catholic school board in Peterborough, Ont. had invited Trudeau to speak for a second time in three years.

"If they are looking for a truly great speaker, who also happens to be Catholic, perhaps they might invite (Immigration) Minister Jason Kenney," Del Mastro wrote on Oct. 12.

"Are there any tenets of the Catholic faith that Justin supports?"

Trudeau had been asked by the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic School Board to speak to 300 students from six area high schools on Oct. 13 at a downtown hall.

Trudeau says he spoke for free, and the topic was the importance of young people showing leadership.

The 39-year-old son of former Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau said he was raised Catholic by his father, going to church every weekend and saying prayers nightly as a family.

The elder Trudeau's Catholicism has been well documented in biographies, including one book specifically on his faith. The former prime minister was educated by the Jesuits and admitted to going regularly to church up until the last years of his life.

(Sidebar: I call total bullcrap on that.)

In other news: Canadians set sail to feed the overfed Palestinians:

Peace activists from nine countries have set sail for the Gaza Strip aboard two ships, one of them a Canadian vessel, in another attempt to breach Israel's naval blockade.

Canadian activists say the ships, which made a failed attempt to challenge the blockade last summer, left Turkey on Wednesday and could reach Gaza in a couple of days.

Dylan Penner, a spokesman for the Canadian boat, the Tahrir, says there are about a dozen peace activists and journalists on board, including three Canadians.

Penner says Ottawa and other governments around the world should demand that Israel does not attack the unarmed civilians on the boats.

Yes, why should Israel defend itself from useful idiots who play into the hands of terrorists?

Oh look! Muslims fire-bomb a newspaper again.

Sad, little women who threw their nubile years away are shocked! that mothers are marginalised.

Because she's Michelle Malkin:

They’ve welcomed the Black Panthers and Communist revolutionary thug Angela Davis, and are currently marching to the Port of Oakland.

Various sympathizers and observers are tweeting live. Mother Jones reports that the Oakland Whole Foods store — after being falsely accused of threatening to punish workers who walked out on the job today — has been vandalized.

One person on scene writes: “Straight into window breaking and street furniture smashing at whole foods. #generalstrike #occupyoaklandwindow breaking and street furniture smashing at whole foods.”

(thanks)

Of course smelly hippies wouldn't do anything substantive about sexual assault. They're wieners.

Occupy this!

(much appreciation)

Some, however, are not grateful:

The 20th anniversary of an educational Remembrance Day event is being cancelled at a west Ottawa Catholic high school after the teacher organizing it was told “no tanks or guns” are allowed in the school.

Notre Dame High School history teacher Gene Michaud sent an e-mail to friends last Friday, sadly announcing the end of the Remembrance Day Symposium — shocking many in the military community.

“There’s a huge difference between some kid with a grudge bringing a weapon that’s loaded into a school, and veterans putting on a Remembrance display with non-functioning historical replicas,” said Wayne Mac Culloch, a retired major who spent more than 40 years in the Canadian Forces, including five missions overseas.

“What we’ve got going on here is a warped perspective of no weapons in schools.”

Mac Culloch often speaks at the annual Veterans Week event, which was set for Nov. 10 this year, and says he’s astounded by the new rule.

“We’re not talking tanks — we’re talking a cargo truck, Jeep, things you or I could actually own,” he said.

“If I can drive this thing on a city street, what is the objection of the school board?”

Replicas from museums are usually brought in, “but certainly, there’s nothing that you can operate,” said Mac Culloch.

Over replicas?

How does one eject tyrants like Hitler or Kim?

The crucifix bothers a lot of people because one Man gave His life for everything they have done wrong. Who needs the reminder if you are a selfish idiot or an Islamofascist?

The same "provocation," a crucifix, that prompted Muslim students in the United States to complain about "human rights" abuses at a private Catholic university, prompted Muslims in Egypt to murder a man.
First, the American incident. According to Fox News:
The Washington, D.C. Office of Human Rights confirmed that it is investigating allegations that Catholic University violated the human rights of Muslim students by not allowing them to form a Muslim student group and by not providing them rooms without Christian symbols for their daily prayers. The investigation alleges that Muslim students "must perform their prayers surrounded by symbols of Catholicism – such as a wooden crucifix, paintings of Jesus, pictures of priests and theologians which many Muslim students find inappropriate."

Related: stones thrown at Catholics in France:

After a day of welcoming and reunions, around 7 pm, the participants were leaving in their cars and vehicles when "young Arab immigrants" from the city started to throw stones at the vehicles descending from the sanctuary.

The local police, whose station is in this area, were immediately notified and the event organisers had to arrange a diversion to another route to protect the occupants of the vehicles from the savage attacks which continued.

(with thanks)

And now, a koala that gets no respect.
