Today marks the two hundredth anniversary of the War of 1812, a war which plunged the nascent country of Canada into a battle for its survival and purpose.
Today is also the birthday of two special people, M and J.
- invade a country when you said it was declare the war to be "a mere matter of marching" - suffer a loss at possibly one of the baddest uses of scorched Earth - lose more troops, money and land - see your capitol burn as relaliation for the loss of a few barrels of gun powder - and then beg for peace....

Did we win? More important - any cake left?
I think we did win and there might be more cake. Check the fridge.
Of course Canada won.
