1812

Brock's monument

Today marks the two hundredth anniversary of the War of 1812, a war which plunged the nascent country of Canada into a battle for its survival and purpose.

Today is also the birthday of two special people, M and J.

Did we win? More important - any cake left?

Of course Canada won.

When you ;

- invade a country when you said it was declare the war to be "a mere matter of marching"
- suffer a loss at possibly one of the baddest uses of scorched Earth
- lose more troops, money and land
- see your capitol burn as relaliation for the loss of a few barrels of gun powder
- and then beg for peace....

... you lost.

For Canada!
