Sunday Post

An explosion in Spain has injured ninety people:

An explosion at a cafe in southern Spain injured 90 people at a local festival, five of them seriously, authorities said Sunday.

The Saturday night explosion occurred at around 7 p.m. in downtown Velez-Malaga, a small town neighboring Malaga, a popular tourist destination in Spain's southern Andalusia region.

A spokeswoman for the Andalusian emergency service told The Associated Press that preliminary reports indicate a gas leak caused the blast. She spoke on condition of anonymity due to her agency's requirements.

The blast caused some of the La Bohemia cafe's walls and counters to collapse, injuring people inside. Chairs and tables were strewn about in the street Sunday, along with exploded glass from the cafe's windows and doors.
Mayor Antonio Moreno Ferrer said the city will open an investigation.

It's like he wanted to walk into it:

The Philippine president has apologized to Jews worldwide after his remarks that drew comparisons between his bloody anti-drug war and Hitler and the Holocaust sparked shock and outrage.

President Rodrigo Duterte said in a speech Sunday that there was never any intent on his part “to derogate the memory of the 6 million Jews murdered by the Germans.”

Duterte said, “I apologize profoundly and deeply to the Jewish community.”

On Friday, the tough-talking president raised the rhetoric over his anti-drug campaign, which has left more than 3,000 suspected drug dealers and users dead since July, by comparing it to Hitler and the Holocaust and saying he would be “happy to slaughter” 3 million addicts.

Some people find anything and everything offensive and there is some validity in that. But some people are so tactless that one wonders if they have something wrong with them. For some reason, most people find Asians' thoughtless attitudes towards the Holocaust appalling. Touchy or just annoyed that everyone is expected to know how badly the Japanese treated them but they will not reciprocate by even watching five minutes of "Schindler's List"?

Why there needs to be a new pan-Asian alliance against China:

The United States and South Korea are destined to "pay the price" for their decision to deploy an advanced missile defense system which will inevitably prompt a "counter attack", China's top newspaper said on Saturday.

What a guy who writes his own speeches sounds like:

It's a like a pumpkin patch with sincerity as far as the eye can see.

But seriously, it's a tribute that is heartfelt, much more than a superficial gathering of paid-for dignitaries who would rather be elsewhere.

(Merci)

Speaking of superficial:

In its first major statement on the Arctic, the Trudeau government has moved away the more-confrontational approach that dominated Conservative policy, with Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Dion putting Russia at the centre of Canada’s northern policy.

HA!

Does one remember this?

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau says he would tell off Russian President Vladimir Putin "directly to his face" if he becomes prime minister.

And this?

As it was, Dion simply looked on and said nothing as Wang berated iPolitics reporter Amanda Connolly for asking a perfectly reasonable question (agreed to with journalists from other media outlets present) about China’s atrocious human rights record ...

Where's the tough guy swagger now?

Oh, yeah. From Trudeau and Dion, the chief pansies, it doesn't exist. It's better to just give the Canadian Arctic to Putin because he knows judo and stuff!

It happened at a meeting of the International Syria Support Group, speaking of pathetic and fatuous. After Vladimir Putin humiliated Barack Obama by granting him a Syrian ceasefire, then having Syrian and Russian planes unleash even greater carnage, Stéphane Dion and other masters of rhetorical futility like John Kerry gathered in New York to insist that, instead of flying around killing people, we are supporting with emptily resonant words, Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s air force should stand down so we could help his enemies and enforce “future ceasefires.”

It is one of those occasions when I wish I could convince myself a man was being stupid on purpose.

Oh, no! Stupid Dion is the real deal.

But Dion isn't alone in being the village idiot. Trudeau helps lots. Whether pandering to Big Aboriginal or rubbing elbows with people accused of defrauding Chinese immigrants or a selfie that could have gone wrong in so many ways,  Justin proves every bit that he is Pierre and Maggie's son -  a weaselly little creature who cares about his hair and little else.

Rebuffed - again:

Prince George left another Canadian hanging on a high-five and handshake, a week after doing the same to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The 3-year-old George, wearing red shorts and a blue sweater with knee-high blue socks, enthusiastically waved to the crowd with both hands on Saturday just before he, his sister and their parents boarded a sea plane at a departure ceremony at the end of an official tour of Western Canada.

The shy future king declined a high-five and hand shake of a flower boy named Daniel Brachman. He looked toward his dad Prince William instead. When George arrived a week ago at the Victoria airport, he also left Trudeau hanging on a high-five and a handshake.

It's like the children know.

Also: now that Harper has left politics for good, wags don't know what to do with themselves:

Canadian Studies professors slammed Stephen Harper’s Conservative government so much that they’re literally holding a conference in Ottawa to discuss how to keep their critical edge now that he’s gone.

Does one remember this?

(UPDATE: Chronicle Herald DELETES story) “Muslims rule the world”: Halifax refugee students choke 9-year-old girl using chains

And this?

On June 27, 2016, The Rebel news outlet broke an exclusive investigative story about Syrian refugee-students who bullied others students at a New Brunswick high school, including “hitting on 14-15 year old girls”. The report was based on 2,700 official documents obtained by The Rebel through access to information request. All documents were posted online by The Rebel and are still accessible to the public.
The Toronto Star first reported the story on July 8, 2016. It was based on an article written by Kevin Bissett for the Canadian Press, and sent to all major media outlets in Canada.
From the around 1230 words of the original Canadian Press’ article only 223 words remained in the Star’s heavily edited article. The Star removed the detailed incidents of bullying and harassing students by the Syrian newcomers, and left its readers with only a general description of the events.
The heading of the article was also edited by the Star and changed from “Sudden influx of Syrian refugees overwhelmed N.B. high school: documents” to “New Brunswick educators overwhelmed with influx of foreign students: report.”

The double-think gets more nauseating:

It’s really the story of the Canadian media’s attempt to cover up the truth, and spin the story to suit their narrative.

Not even for appearance's sake would the popular press get in front of this just to say that there is or is no story. What is more shocking: the lack of professionalism or the deliberate whitewash of grown men infiltrating high schools to abuse girls?

Pope Francis gets it:

Pope Francis warned on Saturday of a "global war" against traditional marriage and the family, saying both were under attack from gender theory and divorce.

Francis made his comments in an impromptu response to a question at a meeting of the small Catholic community in the ex-Soviet republic of Georgia.

"You mentioned a great enemy of marriage: gender theory," the pope said in response to a woman who had asked about it being taught in schools.

And now, not content with just celebrating Thanksgiving and Halloween in October? Why not expand your holiday repertoire with these feasts?

OCTOBER 28: FRANKENSTEIN FRIDAY

Held annually on the last Friday of October, this holiday celebrate Frankenstein's monster, its creator, and the woman who created it all, Mary Shelley.

This will be the creepiest thing you will see all day:
